New Jersey City University (NJCU) Accelerated Nursing 2019

Published

Hi all!

I know it may be a bit early but I like to always get the ball rolling. Is there anyone that is looking to apply to the 2019-2020 accelerated nursing cohort at NJCU?? I'm looking to connect so we can keep each other updated throughout the process.

@Jyosei i tried But for some reason it’s giving me an error pop up that you can’t receive messages

@Jyosei What are the hospitals the clinicals can be done at? I live walking distance from HUMC and it would be a dream to do clinicals there lol

So far, we have been sent to Jersey City Medical Center, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Robert Wood Johnson (New Brunswick), Robert Wood Johnson (Somerset), Monmouth Medical Center, Jersey Shore University Medical Center, and a nursing home called St. Anne's Home for the Aged.

If you head down today, be careful with street parking. They are VERY stringent about parking rules and towing. Since the lots require a pass and ID card, you can also park in the garage next to the Student Union Center for $10 a day.

Is there a parking permit I can buy for the year?

Yes! There is. It is by semester, however.

Do they ever take students' preference into consideration at all with placements? Or is it completely random?

Completely random. But, if you have a certain living/commuter situation...You have to talk/e-mail with Dr. Johnson and Sam. It is case-by-case basis.

For those of you looking for other programs, I applied to Ashland University in Ohio. That was the only program that didn’t have a deadline that already passed. You can apply through nursingcas.

Also look into Holy Family University in PA( about 1 hr and 30 mins from NYC area) I applied there got in and already sent my deposit but now that I've gotten into NJCU I'm going to give up my seat and go to NJCU because its cheaper and closer to home. Holy Family is a great school they have a full time accelerated 14 month program as well as a 20 month part time program. Tuition is 36 k, they just started offering room and board for accelerated students and that is about 10 grand. It alsO requires same prerequisites as NJCU and NO entrance exam. NCLEX pass rate is great as well. I believe the deadline didn't pass yet for the Fall start so definitely look into it ! There's also a spring and summer start.
