Hi all!
I know it may be a bit early but I like to always get the ball rolling. Is there anyone that is looking to apply to the 2019-2020 accelerated nursing cohort at NJCU?? I'm looking to connect so we can keep each other updated throughout the process.

What clinicals will we have each of the three semesters?
It gets busy along with school work, but here it is:
Semester 1: In-School Lab & Geriatrics (Nursing Home)
Semester 2: Adult Health I (Medical-Surgical) & Pediatrics/Obstetrics and Maternity (Split For One Half Of The Semester)
Semester 3: Adult Health II (Medical-Surgical) & Psychiatry/Community Health (Also Split)
Right now, I HIGHLY SUGGEST that everyone reviews Anatomy & Physiology before you start. It is essential to learning assessment, fundamentals, pharmacology, and understanding pathophysiology.
I’m down with starting a fb group or a chat if everyone’s up to it. I think I’m gonna have access to a lot of the textbook so I think I might be able to help out. I was also thinking of going to campus to drop off my deposit. Mailing a check makes me nervous lol and I’d have a chance to see the campus and stuff.

I applied to the direct MSN program. Had my interview Monday and heard back yesterday afternoon with an acceptance. You’ll have to login to your account to check the decision after they email you.

If you all want, I have some of the books you will need for your first semester as e-books. Just let me know so you can invite me to your Google Drive, etc.

I was also thinking of going to the campus. I’ve never been but I think I might head down today to do it. I’ll be out of town next week so today is my only chance.

If you head down today, be careful with street parking. They are VERY stringent about parking rules and towing. Since the lots require a pass and ID card, you can also park in the garage next to the Student Union Center for $10 a day.

Everyone is usually there until 6PM, Monday-Thursday. If anything, e-mail Samantha Younker for any special arrangements at [email protected].
I almost forgot to mention, start getting your blood titers for Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap, and MMR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. It takes AWHILE to get these done. If you do not have them done, you will not be allowed to go to clinical.

I actually applied to accelerated nursing program. Did you hear back via email first?

It is the shortest ABSN in the state, that I know of. However, there are currently talks among the faculty of lengthening it to 16 months in the future. The price will be around 32-33k. You will likely have to take out about 1/3 in private loans, with the other 2/3s through FAFSA. Clinicals can be up to an hour away from campus, and you MUST BE ABLE TO DRIVE or CARPOOL. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
How does this program compare to that of Rutgers? Anything you've heard of about a comparison in terms of preparation to become a nurse, passing NCLEX, difficulty of classes, clinicals?

I didn’t get accepted to NjCU. I’ve also applied to Seton Hall and I’m waiting to hear back from them. Anyone else applied to SHU?
