Also I apologize for the late replies on the private messages, I did not check those in awhile and also a couple of the individuals that I did not get to reply back to...you have exceeded your messages?!?! I guess you need to delete some messages from your inbox!!!

It could also be that you have exceeded your sent and received messages, not the receipient.

Congratulations on the ER job in ND! Brush up on drug abuse emergencies, oil boom areas have transient workers with disposable incomes and these conditions lead to booms in illicit drug activity.

Oh gosh, seeing this thread and briefly reading through it is alarming to me as a Canadian nursing student.... But more importantly for now, I'm so happy for the outcome!

:woot:Congratulations on your position!! What a relief, I'm happy for you. Best of luck:woot:

Thank you everyone!

North Dakota is definitely not like Toronto haha! But that is not important to me, my focus is taking in the experience and I am loving it!! The staff and hospital are awesome, I am so grateful for everything.

Thanks again.

Congratulations on your new job!

I was hoping if you could help answer a few qs about relocating to the US.

Did you have to apply for a visa screen certificate to get your TN visa? How long did it take and did you have to prove that you wrote your Nclex in Canada? Did you have to fill out any special forms or was the verification of license with CNO good enough to prove that you passed the Nclex?

I also graduated in ON and wrote the Nclex in 2015. I have just recently applied for a visa screen certificate. I was wondering how long it would take for Canadian nurses to relocate to the US and begin work.

Thank you and best of luck with North Dakota :)

You need to apply to a state Board of Nursing and meet their requirements and obtain a license and find a employer. The state will decide if you have to sit NCLEX again for them or not. Employer needs to provide a letter of full time employment for you to qualify for TN visa and you do need VSC and average processing times is 4 months and they do require confirmation from state BON as part of the requirements

I graduated from Radiation therapy and after 3 years I have not received a single invitation for an interview. I have decided to go back to school but reading this thread has brought back so e painful memories and I am very skeptical about pursuing nursing now. I gave two offers, one from nursing ( BSCN) and sonography. I love nursing but now I am leaning towards sonography because I really don't want to find myself in this situation again. I would appreciate any advice on making this difficult decision.

The length of time depends on when the facility would like you to start and also on your availability.

On the forms I had, it asked if I passed the NCLEX and the State I passed in. I wrote Ontario, Canada in that area. They will verify with CNO that you took and passed the NCLEX.

For me and many others, finding a job in Ontario is TOUGH!!! I have met a few other Canadians here and many could not find jobs prior to applying to the U.S. If you are willing on relocating to another Province or to the U.S. You may have a better chance.

I can relate to what you are feeling. I am an RPN upgrading to my BScN while working a non-nursing job. I also need to push on finding an RPN job.

I am awaiting my licence and it is really scary reading about shortages of jobs for rpn. I will appreciate any advice and tips for job searching. I live in Toronto.
