I am a newly licensed RN and I have just gotten a job on a telemetry floor. I have 10 week orientation and then I am on my own. Any suggestions on preparing, reading materials, or advice?

There are quite a few threads already on this topic that you might find of assistance:

Be pro-active - take charge of your orientation rather than sitting back and expecting (hoping?) that your preceptors will make sure that everything is done.
Make absolutely sure you that you have a very clear understanding of the goals you are expected to accomplish during orientation, including the time lines for achievement and the criteria that will be used to evaluate your performance. This is what you need to be focusing on. Insist on regular feedback to validate your progress and analyze any performance gaps. Keep track of your orientation documentation to make sure it is current and reflects everything that is "checked off".
The worst possible situation - that shows up here on AN with depressing regularity - is a new grad who is shocked about being terminated due to orientation problems. Don't let that happen to you.
thank you RN403 and HouTx!
