New Grad Starting Salary

Hi All,

I was just wondering what starting salary is for New Grads across the US. I am interested mostly in the Northern States (New York, New Jersey, Illinois), the Atlanta Market, TX, D.C., and California, but am curious about all areas.

Also, has anyone had any Travel Nursing experience? What is that like (i.e. pay, benefits, difficulty of the job, etc...)?

I'm hearing that it is rough EVERY WHERE for nurses right now. That's why I am looking to find a school in a small town and obtain a job at the local hospital as a tech then move up when I complete my program. I will probably stay there a year while I earn my bsn. Then look at relocating

Speaking of Florida, I'm a December 2013 grad with an ADN and I just landed my first job at a Tampa Bay hospital. It's $24.25/hr days, $29.25/hr nights for new grads.

Did you get any additional certifications like acls or pals prior to applying or did you just apply?

Starting salaries for new grads in the Phoenix area are $26-$30/hr. I find it hard to believe they pay that much in Tucson for a new grad ... maybe $28.
