Hi!
I recently accepted a new grad RN position for ICU nights. I was wondering if anyone can tell me a little bit more information about the hospital (Their website was limited in providing info)? Employee satisfaction? New Grad Program success? I am also interested in relocating in Downtown..any suggestions??
Thanks!!!:wink2:
Hi everyone, I’m not too sure if anyone is still checking up on these posts. If you are checking up on this site and still looking for a place in LA, I found this great apartment complex called Pasadena Park Place. The address is still Los Angeles but it's two street lights away from Old Town Pasadena. It's very close to the 110 FWY. From the apartment it's about 7 min to downtown Pasadena (Colorado Blvd, with all the great shops) and its 10-15 minutes away from Good Sam, so you’ll get the best of both Pasadena and downtown LA. They're running a special right now where you get two months free. The first two months are half off and the last month on a 13 month lease is completely free. It's not luxurious but very clean, spacious, affordable and it has gated parking. I love it there. Google search Pasadena Park Place and click on the first link. They still have one bedrooms, two bedrooms and studious available. I can't wait to meet you guys on the 9th. Take care.
To Charlotte, you shouldn't have turned down the job because of the money. Yes the starting $/hour is minimal but that's only for the first 8-hours of work. The remaining 4 hours of a 12 hours shift paid as time and a half. So your overall $/hours is still in the mid $30's (not including differentials) which is about the same for a new grad at UCLA and Cider-Sinai. In my opinion that's not too bad for a starting salary in LA. I'm coming from Riverside County where the pay for new grads is about $22-28 and $30/hour at Loma Linda University Medical Center for a full 12 hour shift with no time and a half.
I'm starting at Good Sam on Monday also! :] My dad, a respiratory therapist, knows a few nurses who work there who have great things to say about the institution... as far as the New Grad Program goes, I actually haven't heard much about it. I decided to accept the position because the nurse manager I met with was awesome and seemed to be quite supportive. She gave me a tour of the unit and introduced me to her staff who all seemed to be genuinely happy with their jobs.

These look nice. I have been accepted to mt st marys in los angeles and a school in northern ca where I live. I am trying to make a decision. The Mount starts May 11 and I only found one apartment complex that I felt safe at in Los Angeles and it was 1600 a month.. Do you feel safe here.. ? To get to Chester Street 4 miles from downtown to be there at 7am do you think it would be long? I am not too familiar with l.a. traffic.
hello to everyone who started the new grad program in Feb 2009. I was wondering when did you guys apply to their program in 2008? It doesn't say on their website and I couldn't reach anyone in HR..and they never call back when I leave a message... THANK YOU ALL IN ADVANCE!!
I applied early january, but I was a little late with my application. It's difficult getting them to return your calls. They only gave me a call because someone with connections referred me. Some of the new grads applied around Nov.

I got hired at good samaritan as a new grad but i turned it down because the salary is way too low for LA and among other things that I found out about the hospital.
