Hi!

I recently accepted a new grad RN position for ICU nights. I was wondering if anyone can tell me a little bit more information about the hospital (Their website was limited in providing info)? Employee satisfaction? New Grad Program success? I am also interested in relocating in Downtown..any suggestions??

Thanks!!!:wink2:

I just accepted a new grad position at Good Sam also! Are you starting Feb. 9? I'm way excited and also looking for places to live. I'm stressed out because I'm in northern California and craigslist is not helpful! How is house hunting going for you? Any ideas where I should look?

is this the same hospital who spied on nurses with hidden cameras?

What is the starting pay rate at that hospital for new grads?

How was the interview process?

Thanks :D

Anouk345- I wasn't there for the whole camera incident, so I don't know much about it other than that it happend.

Cabo2341- The start pay rate is $28.21 for a new grad and there are 4 differentials: 2 differentials for night shift and 2 differentials for the weekend. I heard through HR that the pay rate will increase starting 2009, but I am not sure when it will be in effect. The interview process for me went smoothly...Since I am a new grad and applied everywhere, I've had practice. haha. I was first interviewed with recruiter and then the manager for my unit. I was offered a job on the spot. So far, from what i've encountered..This is a great organization and employee satisfaction is positive. Are you thinking of applying?

nurse_aholic,

thanks for the quick reply! :yeah: i wish i was in your position as a new grad....i'm hoping

to start the nursing program at mt. sac in fall, 2009. they did mention good sam as one

of the clinical sites though.... just wanted to know what's out there. what type of

questions are asked for a new grad anyways?

Cabo2341- One of the questions I was asked the most was my work experience and my clinical rotation experience. Why I selected my speciality. What can I offer or bring onto the unit. How do I deal with stress and multi-tasking.

I forgot to add..good luck with Mt. Sac. So I take it you live in California? What made you decide to do nursing?

Craigslist is so-so for socal, I've found...you should try westsiderentals.com. It's a little pricey for a subscription, but the listings are much more comprehensive than craigslist.

$28 is too low for LA. I started at $32 excluding differentials/holidays in my hospital. this march we will have another increase.

Hi nurse_aholic and Chico. I also heard back from HR at Good Sam on the Dec 30th. They've accepted me for a new grad RN position in the ER :D . I'm so excited and nervous about it :redbeathe . I'm due to go back on the 7th to sign papers and get the process going. I'm also thinking of commuting back and forth for the first few week but I currently live in a city called Moreno Valley. About two hours away. Anyone have any luck finding a place in downtown? any words of advise when I go back on the 7th?
