I just got a job offer for an RN job in Southern California for $25.50/hr. Not sure if this is high, low, average? What is everyone else starting out at?

what is cost of living though? isn't it astronomically high in SoCal to buy a house for example?
where i live, a decent house can be bought for 150K, 350K can buy you a large 5 bedroom home.
i am graduating in 3 months, 29 days and working nights w/ the shift differential, i'll be making 20.05 an hour. (38,000 a year). if i do nights on the weekend or do all 3 shifts on teh weekend (weekend option) i'd get more an hour. that is absolutely plenty for me to support my family of 5.

I'm in Southern Cali and my starting pay is $25.36, after 6 months it jumps to $29 something...
I'd say your salary is within normal range for a new grad.
Congrats!!! :)

You didn't say where you are, that would be a big help to anyone looking at RN grad pay info.
It is really ridiculous to buy a home in So Cali.
Hence why I still live at home!!!!!
In the area I am in, most houses are 600k +
Even if you go to a part of town thats not so hot, you won't find much for under $400k
So the salary definately has to match where you live

here in phoenix, arizona, i am a new grad and started at $20.23, plus 15% differential for nights. so i am making $23.26/hr. cost of living isn't that bad here, so i am pretty happy with my pay. especially since i went from stay at home mom to that! i only work 2 days a week.

In southern New Jersey, pay seems to be anywhere from $25 to $31 an hour for a new grad, depending on shift.
Thank you! Anyone else???
