what is cost of living though? isn't it astronomically high in SoCal to buy a house for example?
where i live, a decent house can be bought for 150K, 350K can buy you a large 5 bedroom home.
i am graduating in 3 months, 29 days and working nights w/ the shift differential, i'll be making 20.05 an hour. (38,000 a year). if i do nights on the weekend or do all 3 shifts on teh weekend (weekend option) i'd get more an hour. that is absolutely plenty for me to support my family of 5.
i accepted a job offer in one of the most expensive cities in North Cal (San Francisco East Bay) ...when i go and work i will have had 6 months working experience, so the base pay will be $35.51....i prefer to work nights so add another $7.25 for shift differential and my hourly wage is $43!!! wooohooo....since i was recruited from Canada, i get another $8000 relocation bonus plus 40 days free hotel accomodation..........my contract is 2 years
cheers!

You didn't say where you are, that would be a big help to anyone looking at RN grad pay info.
New grad pay: $18.50/hr. plus $1.00/hr eve shift diff, $1.50/hr night shift diff, $1.00/hr weekend day shift diff, $2.25/hr weekend evening shift diff, $3.50/hr weekend night shift diff
This plus $7,500 sign on bonus - 2 yr. commitment
I think I got it all correctly. I just received this info. from one of our local hospitals.

I just got a job offer for an RN job in Southern California for $25.50/hr. Not sure if this is high, low, average? What is everyone else starting out at?
