Hi,I graduated from 4yr in march 08 and got my license in june and even had an job offer from hospital. My problem is that during the I-9 process, i could not provide work permit since it was expired. Therefore, i cannot start working for new grad program. (Currently, i applied for renewal of working permit. )Now, i don't know what to do. Do the hospitals still offer sponsorship or petition even if i cannot start working immediately?I am worried that by the time my renewed working permit comes out, i am no longer a new grad without any experience...who still needs sponsorship/petition....Suzanne or anyother experts, do you know what i should do?????

You may have issues if your visa expired and your renewal may be denied. (Which visa do you have?) If that is the case you will become affected by retrogression and the only way to stay in the US would be maintaining student status
Well, currently, i have applied for green card and recieved the reciept i485 and waiting for it to process through my family member. So, i know im legally able to stay in United states currently, its just that i didn't realize i had to renew the work permit yearly even though i already applied for the green card. you know what i mean???
If you have EAD then you are not looking for a petitioner. Currently nurses are affected by retrogression
What do you mean by retrogression? i keep hearing that word, but i am not sure if i fully understand it. Does it means that the i485 processing is being delayed?
Well, it is true i do not need petition if i am using the work permit through my family. However, i still need sponsorship/petition to open up new file separate from my family in case it does not work out with the file from my family member. I guess my Q would be..after 3-4 months (if i do recieve my renewal work permit)when i am still a new grad without experience who graduated almost 1 year ago....will there still be hospitals sponsoring/petitioning for me?
or..what should i be doing in mean time while i wait for the renewal one?do you think it helps if i volunteer somewhere nursing related?Do you have any recommendations/suggestions in where to volunteer?
Is there any volunteer work available where i can actually use my clinical RN skills? Thank you so much,

Basically retrogression means the demand for the visa outweighs how many visas are allocated and is done on place of birth. I do find it strange that you have 485 when going the family route as my understanding when going the family route is you have to wait for your PD and can not live and work in the US whilst waiting and average times for family members is many years. Even if you find a petitioner you are still looking at a few years waiting and training in the US makes no difference on your application. Current processing times have just been released and looking at a PD date of between 2001 and 2005 and if you check out the thread on October bulletin it will tell you which countries are on which dates. Due to retrogression there is no way that you can adjust visa and be able to work (your situation is different as you have 485 although it maybe affected if you have problems getting it renewed)
well, its more like my parents applied for i485 and our case is pending currently. However, in case the result doesn't look good,(which means no greencard), i would like to separately apply for greencard through sponsorship from the hospital.
So, currently, it is very hard to get a sponsorship/petition as a new grad??Have you heard anyone getting petition from the hospital as new grad? do you think i should be looking into nursing homes? What area would most likely to sponsor/petition? Any in Ca? thanks,

Very hard so all you can do is contact hospitals and ask them about petitioning you, do not use the word sponsor. Even if you find someone and you have problems renewing your EAD you will not be able to stay and work whilst your own application is being processed. Hopefully you will get your EAD sorted and your parents/your application is accepted otherwise the only way to stay in the US at the moment is maintain a student visa

15 to 20 years at the earlies, this is not considered a high priority.
F4 visa will not permit one to work here.
EADs expire on a yearly basis and they need to be renewed each year. Your attorney should have informed you of this.
If this does not work out for you, there is no other way for you to obtain the EAD to remain and work in the US as we are under a retrogression and you would be under that as well.
Not sure if you have read about the retrogression or not, or what you know about it, but even if you find a hospital, there are no visas available so the I-485 could not be submitted for you at this time, the US government is not accepting them; only the I-140 could be submitted and this does not permit you to work.
Not sure of how old that you are, but if over 21, then you are not considered as part of your parents' petition and need to be petitioned entirely on your own as well.
