does any one know of ANY hospital hiring in the state of NY/NJ/PA
I knew it was going to be hard, but the lack of response is quite discouraging

There are jobs in Western/Central NY, I don't know much about the Southern Tier but I imagine it is much more difficult in the NYC area.

moved tonew york nurses for best input.
no hospital jobs on 5 county philadelphia area..
http://www.nurse.com/jobs/ has 541 postings, few toward back list 1yr exp preferred most wqnt bsn.
Let me put it this way, my floor hired 15 new grads (no exaggeration either, that is the head count). Most have had tech experience of some sort. I surprisingly few are from the Nursing School affiliated with my hospital as was the case last year when I got hired. I am from the Rochester area as well.

In NYC, I personally know that Beth Israel, Wyckoff Heights, New York Downtown Hospital have hired new grads. Columbia-Presbyterian has a New Grad-specific job posting every season, and North Shore-LIJ has a critical care fellowship open to new grads.
I graduated from an ADN program this spring in NYC... began networking my first year of nursing school, found a mentor, stayed in touch with my clinical instructors, etc... those people were invaluable resources in keeping an eye out for openings for me. It wasn't easy and it took a lot of patience and effort to stay on their radar, but it paid off - I'm orienting now and will start on my unit next wk.
My recommendation would be to reach out to your previous clinical instructors who can vouch for your performance.. start volunteering at a hospital to get into the organization and start networking around. Don't rely on HR or job boards - they are black holes for new grads.
If you haven't already, make sure you have ACLS and PALS.. take a training course that would set you apart from other new grads, i.e. critical care, phlebotomy, picc/central lines, etc..
Good luck! Don't lose hope... you made it this far, already!

Rochester baby! I'm a new ADN grad and just got hired there. It's a big move...but getting my first nursing job is worth it (especially during these times). Best of luck
P.S. I have no prior healthcare experience.
