First of all congratulations to all of you that graduated. I can't wait to get there myself. I still have another year though.

Second, a lot of my nursing friends warned me that right after you graduate, you feel kind of weird, like a big let down. I guess after all that adrenaline, drama and stress, you don't know what to do with yourself when you finish. I guess now is the time to remember what hobbies you used to have before school and see if you are still interested or better yet, find new ones. Also, remember your friends? Those people that hardly saw you in the last few years. Maybe check in with them.

Either way, enjoy the sense of accomplishment. It is huge what we are doing. I don't think a lot of people realize how hard nursing school is.

Anyway, good luck on NCLEX and your job hunt.

i remember you too mixy!!! can you believe it has been this long??? it feels like a life time ago i was taking pre-reqs. nursing school, although short, is not sweet. but the accomplishment of completing it successfully is feels good!! i left so many good people behind, but i am one of the ones who made it through, as i promised myself and my family some time ago! and like you, i am not bored... i am still riding the newly-pinned high!:D

i can see how this might be the case for some because it has been the case for me in the past. i think people who feel let down are people who thought that once they graduated everything will fall into place. i learned from two prior experiences that it is simply not the case. one must start making plans and setting up life changes before graduation in order for things to fall into place after graduation.

thus, this time i do not feel that sense of let down because i began advancing my career and changing my life before graduation. for example, i have a new clique of friends i formed in nursing school and past friends i kept in touch with periodically during nursing school that will continue to enhanse my career and social life. i also already have a job, i am studying for the nclex, i have connections to join three professional and social organizations that are of my interest, and last but not least i have church and my family. there are a few hobbies i dropped because of nursing school i plan to pick back up as soon as my life settles a bit more after passing the nclex and getting through the holidays.
