New grad NICU email pen pals? :)

Hey all,

I have been working the NICU for almost 7 months, from being a new grad. I moved 6 hours away from home and plan to stay at least 1 year. I don't have a support system here, so i dont have my Nursing school buddies to ask questions to or lean on. :crying2:

I know a lot of new grads come here to this forum and thought maybe someone would like to have a little fact-throwing pen pal relationship via this website!

We could send one another something we learned at work that day, questions,or just share experiences. I know i have already had A LOT of ups and downs and would love to be able to share that with someone going through something similar. Let me know if anyone is interested! :redbeathe

Hey there! I am a new grad getting ready to start my first job in a Level IV NICU. I also moved about 6 hours away from home and do not really know many people in my new town except a few. I will be on the floor in a about 2 weeks and while I am so excited, I am extremely nervous! My nursing school exposure to the NICU was very limited but the experience I did have, had me hooked! I would love to learn from what you already have experienced and share my experiences with you! I'm always up for fact throwing and learning as much as I can. Let me know if you are still interested! :)

Hi!

I was actually thinking of posting a New Grad Support Thread in the NICU forum that would be just geared to New Grads in the NICU...would you be interested in doing it this way so that as new grads appear we can add them into the discussion? Also, maybe more experienced nurses can check in on us every so often and offer support and advice.

Yea, I think that's a great idea :)

I'm a new grad in the NICU as well! I actually have a blog that I use as a coping mechanism! turbonurse.blogspot.com if you want to read!

I'd love to have someone follow it and comment on it. It's just nice to know that we aren't alone.

I'm new as well, I have been off orientation for 3 weeks. It has been challenging to say the least, but I absolutely love what I am doing. I really like the idea of a support thread!

OK then...let's start our own support, fact throwing, and fun New Grad NICU group! I'll start the thread :) :yeah:

Hello,

I am a new grad starting in the NICU in July. I will be starting in a Level II. I will also be moving to follow my dream (moving from California to Texas!). I would love to participate!

I am a new grad hoping to find my NICU dream job soon. I have applied all over the country....literally. Are any of your NICU's still hiring? I am desperate, after at least 30 applications I have only had one recruiter even call me back and its for a NICU in El Paso, TX for which I do have a phone interview for. Any advise for that too????? I appreciate any and all help you can give to me.

Thanks-

Crystal

Sunshine,

Do you mind sharing where you landed your position? I am completing my preceptorship in a level III NICU now and will graduate July 31st. I am willing to move anywhere to land a job in an NICU.

Thanks so much!
