For the New grads that havent started yet, have you all taken your boards yet? I start hospital orientation on Monday and I have about a month before I take mine. Im hoping I will be able to focus on learning everything I can during orientation AND having enough sanity and energy to study for the NCLEX!!! Is anyone else in this same boat???

my kaplan instructor told us that it helps if you look at each option as a truth or false question. I know for me with SATA questions, I tend to freak out when I see all the choices but I find it helpful now if I just look at each statement they give as a true of false and then move on. Hope that helps!

Hey there! I am a new grad getting ready to start my first job in a Level IV NICU. I also moved about 6 hours away from home and do not really know many people in my new town except a few. I will be on the floor in a about 2 weeks and while I am so excited, I am extremely nervous! My nursing school exposure to the NICU was very limited but the experience I did have, had me hooked! I would love to learn from what you already have experienced and share my experiences with you! I'm always up for fact throwing and learning as much as I can. Hey boilernurse23, I just read your post and wanted to know more about the Labor and Delivery internship at GW. I am a senior (graduating in May) and I am looking everywhere I can think of for RN residency or new grad programs in L&D. I have recently been looking into GW, do you have any advice for me? I don't see the internship listed on the website so I am going to call the nursing office after the holidays and hopefully get to talk to a recruiter. I am so glad you posted this because I am having trouble finding hospitals that will hire new grads into L&D or OB! Congrats on this opportunity. I hope it is still going well for you and you are adjusting to being on your own (if you are on your own already) Again, any advice would be appreciated. I cant PM because I haven't had enough posts yet but please let me know if you have any advice. Thanks in advance!

CONGRATS!!!!!! Im graduating in May and would Looooooovvvvveeeee a chance to work in OB right out of school. If you dont mind me asking, how did you get into OB? I have heard that its really hard as a new grad but I know this is what I want to do :) CONGRATS again!

I would really appreciate some advice from OB nurses! I am a senior nursing student and I am getting ready to choose my senior practicum. My heart and soul lies in OB/L&D and I would love to be placed there, but I hear a lot of people saying that as a new grad, having a med/surg background is best. I know that not many hospitals hire new grads in L&D (some do for NICU, which I also enjoy), so I would really like some advice on if whether I should ask to be placed on a med/surg floor for my last semester. For those OB nurses that started in in OB, do you feel like you are well-rounded enough? I am really torn! I want to follow my passion and really fight for the little number of placements that they have in OB for my last semester, but I am afraid that I will not build those med/surg skills that I need as a new grad in May. PLEASE HELP!!!

Hello all, I would really appreciate advice from new grads or anyone that as gone straight to grad school after undergrad. I am going into my final year of nursing school and I am trying to decide if I should work part time as a new grad and also work on my masters. I am so use to being in school that I don't know how easy it would be for me to work and then go back to school in a few years. I would like to do the MSN/Certified Nurse Midwife Program that many schools offer. I would really appreciate ANY advice that you have. Thanks!
