Hi Everyone!
So, I am a new grad, graduated in May, and passed my boards in June! After hunting for a job, and putting applications out in peds, med surg, and a couple in the ER, I was just offered a job at my goal hospital in their ER!!! I'm so excited, its a full time DAY position, which I hear is unheard of for new grads, and there is a 16 week orientation. I'm hoping for some advice and tips on how to survive and do well!

Be aggressive, jump in and help out as you learn. The ER is where Jedi Knights are made! LOL!

Yes, because it's often all Jedi mind tricks... "this is the Toradol you're looking for."
OP, congrats to you!! :)

Use your initiative and be open to suggestions from the other RNs. Always asks questions if you are in doubt.. What we don't like to see with new hires is when they are just sitting there and wait to be told what to do after a couple of weeks of orientation(Like every week is week 1). I mentored new hires and I admire new RNs who go to the room, jump in, meaning, assist the patient , attach them to the monitor, etc... minor things.

Work hard and help others out and ask a million questions. Look up things you do not understand on uptodate when you have a second at work.
