New grad and happily received an offer for a long term/sub acute facility! I am soo excited, any words of wisdom from you seasoned professionals?

Take your time learning the ropes. Make sure you get enough orientation and don't be shy about asking for more if you need it. Pay attention to the CNAs on your unit....they will be the best resource for information about your patients. The med pass....it is NOT the be all and end all. Make sure the residents get the right meds but don't stress if some of the meds are late. Get to know the docs...if your facility uses Interact II, review it. There is a wealth of information there.

Congrats! :yeah:3weeks after I graduated, I started working in a similar facility. The best piece of advice someone gave me was to not be afarid to ask questions. You may feel dumb asking certain questions....DON'T. The only dumb question is one you don't ask. Be a sponge and soak up as much info as you can. Lastly, don't take you work home with you. What I mean is as soon as you get to the door to leave, take a deep breath and leave what happened at work, at work. Easier said than done. After 10years of nursing, I still have to remind my self of that.This is an exciting time for you asd you should be proud of yourself. Welcome to the nurse family!

Ask as many questions as you feel necessary and don't be too hard on yourself.
