New Grad in Georgia

Published

Hello all I was wondering if anyone in the Georgia area knew of any jobs that are currently hiring new graduates. I graduated in September 2009 took boards in November 2009 and have been a LPN every since. I am not picky as to where I work right now I just want to get my foot in the door and actually become a contributing member to society.

Sincerly,

Crystal

I need a job ASAP

Specializes in LTC/Sub Acute Rehab.

Hopefully you will be successful. I have been a LPN for 4 years and its hard to find a job other than LTC. Most of the places want you to have x amount of years experience and no one wants to train you no matter what the setting. I will say this, working in LTC has afforded me the skill of assessment and documentation, which is priceless. However, everyone who works in LTC are not good documentors. If I can't do anything as a nurse, I sure as hell can assess and document.

Here in Columbus the majority of jobs for LPNs are at LTC. And the majority of them will give you the opportunity to work once you have been licensed. I will say the pay is not too bad. $12.88 plus $1.50 shift diff plus time and half on holidays and an extra $1 an hour on weekends. Wish you luck in finding a job. I am out looking also. I am thinking of relocating due to lack of childcare on the holidays (no daycare is open on these days) and weekends (one 24 hour day care) around here. So I am in a pickle. My kids' daddy offered his services in Charlotte NC. I am thinking about moving there, just waiting until I take the boards to do it.

Hey, I went through the same thing last year, being a new grad looking for a job, I got a job at a skilled nursing facility, not a nursing home, almost like a subacute. I got a lot of experience working there, shots, diabetic teaching, wound care, documentation. This is only my advice, but I would say, stay away from nursing homes, unless you do wish to work there. I think there are better places to work, right know I know Kaiser permanente is hiring, not sure where in georgia you live. Also there is a skilled nursing facility in marietta thats hiring, grady is hiring. Dont give up, it took me 3 months last year to look and find a job. I'm actually job hunting right now, now that I have a little experience I would love to do home health. Anyway yahoo hotjobs is a good place to look, tanner.org, a hospital that caters for people living west, like in douglasville and carrollton, indeed.com, just dont give up! hope this helps

Thanks for all the responses. I am not gong to give I know someone is willing to give me a chance. It's crazy because I'm starting to feel like I'm forgetting everything I learned in school you know like if you don't use it you lose it. But anyway I'm going to kjeep at it an maybe something will come through.

Onfire4GZUZ what is the name o the skilled nursing facility in Marietta.?

Hey its called Singnature healthcare, and I hope their still hiring, if you google it I'm pretty sure that job posts from them will come up. Oh and I just went on yahoo hotjobs and Grady hospital has about 4 job openings for lpns, not sure if you wanna travel that far and in that area. Hope this helps.

Thank you I just applied to every Grady job available every Kaiser Job and I think I applied to a Signature Healthcare job but I have applied to so many that I honestly can't remember but I am going to check into it anyway and reapply if necessary.

I'm hoping someone calls me soon.

Hey Peach, did you ever get a job from the skilled nursing facility or Grady, just curious??
