Where are the LPN Jobs in GA?
Honestly if you dont have any experience it seems like its almost impossible here. I'm actually looking right now, I have almost a year of experience and I'm looking on yahoo hotjobs everyday, and I know what you mean about not wanting to go into atlanta. I was at the library yesterday and someone saw me looking for a job and she said for some reason being an lpn in this state is really hard. So anyway we have to trust in God and he will make a way for us. I know what you mean about ltc the only place thats hiring for us. Well I know grady is hiring but its in atlanta, keep looking at hotjobs, wellstar, and homehealth compaines which is your best bet. They always seem to be looking for people. If you have experience that will help too. Let me know how it goes!

New Grad in Georgia
Hey, I went through the same thing last year, being a new grad looking for a job, I got a job at a skilled nursing facility, not a nursing home, almost like a subacute. I got a lot of experience working there, shots, diabetic teaching, wound care, documentation. This is only my advice, but I would say, stay away from nursing homes, unless you do wish to work there. I think there are better places to work, right know I know Kaiser permanente is hiring, not sure where in georgia you live. Also there is a skilled nursing facility in marietta thats hiring, grady is hiring. Dont give up, it took me 3 months last year to look and find a job. I'm actually job hunting right now, now that I have a little experience I would love to do home health. Anyway yahoo hotjobs is a good place to look, tanner.org, a hospital that caters for people living west, like in douglasville and carrollton, indeed.com, just dont give up! hope this helps

Surgical nursing, the same as med surg nursing
Thank you soo much! This helps, I think this is something I would definitely be interested in going into. Med Surg was my number one, but it seems like you learn just as much in surgical nursing. Thanks so much for replying! appreciate it.

new lpn grad, am I crazy for being determined to want a hospital job?
So I passed my boards about a month ago, new lpn grad here, and I have been searching for a job. Home health is out the way for me, being a new grad I dont think that would be such a good idea. Then there is LTC, and I dont mean to be horrible but I really dont wanna work ltc, I would dread going to work. Then theres doctor's offices, and clinics, and all of them want experienced nurses. I would really like to get a job in a hospital, med surg, but they just dont seem to be hiring new nurses. If anyone has any info, connections, or ways I could get into a med surg at a hospital, please pm, or write me, thanks in advance.

LPN travel nursing
Hey lpntoo, thanks so much for your post, that is such a good pointer not to tell anyone about how much you get paid, will keep that in mind. I wanted your advice, I just passed my lpn boards, and I am in the process of looking for a job in the hospital, preferebly med surg, but job openings in this seems very slim for brand new nurses. Should I work in a docs office, then with a little experience eventually slim my way to med surg. What do you think is the best path for me to go, because I want to eventually do travel nursing, and I also wanted to know how much experience do I have to have before I can eventually consider travel nursing.

How to Fight HR for RN job I want
THis sounds like such a sticky situation to me. I would definitely want to withdraw from the postion they hired you in, cause it seems like you wouldnt be happy in it. Then again the question is even though you want to work in icu, would hr hire you in this open slot if you interviewed for it? Maybe you could take the postion you dont like, work in it for 6 months and try to transfer to transfer into icu. I'll be prayin that everything works out. Pray about this situation, and I know this is frustrating, but try to remain calm, and think about every decision you will make. hope this helps

Passed nclex tips! especially for those out of school more than a yr
Hey allnurses! I posted Jan. 8th that I passed the nclex-pn, and I promised I would come back and let you know what I did to pass! Ok, so First I will tell you I graduated June 07, took it that Dec. failed, and couldnt pick myself up to study the upcoming months, Jan-Apr. First off, I went to Jamaica and England, so that was part of the distraction! but when the summer time came along, I decided to study would, but it didnt get me anywhere. Since I was out of school for about a year, I needed to review nursing content, and this is where the plan came into affect, I call it Gods nclex plan. I purchased a saunders comprehension book, along with that I took my Medical Surgical book I used in nursing school, and a clean spiraled notebook. What I did was I took it system by system. I would review the major diseases in the saunders book, look them up in the med surg book, and write the systems down in my spiral book. I did this for each and every system, it took me a long time but it will be worth it. I also reviewed my nursing basics, along with electorlytes. After I finished reviewing all my body systems, I had the content down, so I knew I was ready to answer questions. I purchased the ncsbn learning extension, the body sytem review I didnt really do cause I did my own review, but what really, really helped were the review question, I think there about 600. I then purchased the Kaplan stratergies for nclex-pn, then to also help out with stratergies, this is a must to look at, is the stratergies section in the saunders book. I also answered saunders questions, oh yea, and to help out with drugs, I purchased the "nclex-rn medications. For delegation and prioritization, I purchased the delegation book by Linda A. Lacharity, even though this book was really geared toward an rn, it will help out an lpn a bit too. For lpns like myself, the ncsbn questions help you with prioritization too. Ok so this is the list, Saunders Comprehensive review for nclex-pn Kaplan stratergies for nclex-pn 2008 edition Medical Surgical book: isbn: 0131714724 (This is the bk I used in school) Kaplan: Nclex-rn medication you need to know for the exam isbn 9781427797476 Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment isbn 0323044077 Ncsbn learning extension http://www.learningext.com MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL, the BIBLE: to get close with God and read the word (PSALMS IS AWESOME!) So this is everything, all of this I did, but what helped me most of all was God. I tell you, I couldnt have done it without him, for so long I wanted to write a message on here saying I passed! Nothing is impossible with him, trust him, give him your heart, everyday I want you to say I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me. If God can do it for me, he will surely do it for you! This is a fact, I want you to read this get excited and inspired! For those of you taking it again for the 2nd 3rd time, dont be weary! God is for you not against you! Love you allnurses! You can do it

JUST passed nclex, BUT been out of school for over a yr. need some advice!!
Ok, everyone I graduated summer of 07 and I just passed my boards, jan 09.(Long story of why I just took them, but I studied hard, took them, and passed!) I'm ready to start working as a nurse the only thing holding me back is alot of the hands on procedures I kinda dont remember. Like drawing blood, putting in Ivs, caths, and trach care, and I kinda dont know what to do cause if I go to work in a docs office they are going to expect me to know these things. My main question is, if I go to work in a hospital, I know they orient you for a couple weeks, will I get a chance for someone to show me the procedure again or not. And my last question, I saw in my area where there is a refresher class thats teaching how to put in caths ivs, draw blood, trachs, everything I need! its 275$! Should I take this refresher class, or lean on the hospital to orient me, help me out guys! THANKS
