New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

World Registration

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

hi everyone, first of all i want to thank each one of you for unselfishly giving your time and effort to answer questions. i have been reading your posts and i find this site very helpful. I just arrived in australia last december 24,2010. i want to seek advice on what to do to be able to be registered as a nurse here. From what i understand,i should still go through APHRA to have my credentials evaluated. I read from the previous posts that since some things have changed since july 2010, there is a possibility that the BP will take up to 2 years? Are there other options that i can possibly do? thanks so much.

My kids are very excited to attend school on January 31, My eldest son will be in year 11, second, year 9 and my youngest level1. Our state sponsorship for permanent residency has been approved just 3 months after i got my 457 visa.

Krist Congrats for your job at RAH Renal Unit that's pretty quick just a month after you BP.

Impatience is really creeping up with regard to the eligibility letters. I heard from someone I knew who finished her BP last December 2010 and until now she still doesn't have her registration from AHPRA.

me too.. im on my 5th month actually.. hope we'll receive our eligibility letters soon.. Goodluck to all of us! :):nurse:

just want to ask if which particular state did you apply for your registration, is it NBV or NSW etc.???

@princessblush, we are on the same boat, still completing all the necessary documents :lol2:

Hello guys, can i ask help from all of you??? I'm an Nclex-rn passer particularly Vermont State. Do I need to mention this in the AGOS Form in the qualifications and examinations part and what further documents do I need to provide in support to this.

Thank you very much and Godbless =)

I think you could mention if you want to. I've also passed NCLEX-California but i didnt include it when i filled up the AGOS form because i didnt wanna complicate things ..but it didn't matter, i got the eligibility 3months+ after i applied..

thank you! is it hard to commute to rural areas? how much is a typical accommodation for a week in a rural area? in sydney it's around 150-200 a week right? :yeah:

i think in sydney its 150-200 or more, but in a smaller place or just a room (correct me anyone here if im wrong).. but in rural area, 100-150, its a house already with garden/yard!! rent is one of the biggest expenses you will have here, because food is cheap in relation to your salary.. so, once you save a lot in rent then you save more money..

Thats it! and very straightforward. thankyou again Aking_skye.:D

And now i will be completing my requirements. from scratch. and hopefully, ill be on for this June class.

one more thing, CRITERION FOUR says: "Applicant must have practised nursing and/or midwifery as defined by the definition of 'practice' contained in the NMBA recency of practice registration standard" - page 1 says zero experience is possibe. how is that. and for the record, i had never been employed in any institution. not even for volunteer or trainee wok. all i have is BLS, ACLS, ECG, IVT. will those count?:)

is this question answered already? nway, based on the rules of AHPRA, zero experience is possible if you have graduated not more than 2 years ago.. this is the latest clarifactory specific rule that AHPRA had.. if you graduated lets say march 2008, then AHPRA will look for your "recency of practice", but volunteer experience is acceptable..

Hi,

I am an ARNTP graduate, Unisa accepts overseas nurses for the program and APHRA will process your registration once you finish the BP. ( Meaning you don't need APHRA'S endorsement to take the Bp ) though all APHRA's requirements has to be complied. CHEERS

thanks RN Oz1....

everybody, you may take note of this unique information as another option of getting aussie license... if i remember it right and i hope RN oz1 corrects me,, the ARNTP that she undertook was for 6 months, and that she applied for registration with nursing board south australia prior july 01 AHPRA... she is now in adelaide..
