Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Hi, I am a Diploma nurse with 4 and half years of experience from India. I applied on last September 15,2011 got an e-mail on MArch 6 2012 indicating your documents have all received. However got a refusal letter 2 weeks back saying they proposal to refuse registation as its not meeting criteria 3 of assessment. Does anyone have encountered the same issue? They have given a time frame until 28th of this month for a staement..
Can anyone suggest me how to write a statement in accordance withe their decisiion. It will be greatly appreciated.I have spend a lot of money and time for the process of application.I am alspend a ot of money for ielts preparatory course. I am really disappointed ..

hi everyone, i am for the august 2012 iron intake at the australian academy of nursing (aaon). is there anyone here doing the same intake as i am? i would love to hear from you guys. i am both very excited and highly anxious. there's barely two weeks left before i fly for australia. i guess this feeling is just normal. i am flying by myself. i haven't met anyone who's doing the same august aaon intake yet. i hope i can meet someone here who's doing the same intake as i am before i go. it would be nice just to share thoughts and gather some emotional support from fellow bridging course students. :)
hi there!
could u tell me about aaon? am planning to enroll there also.
and if you wont mind, could you tell me(us) about the life there? food, flat, and other expenses... thanks and take care
i was also advised that my medical results would be sent to AUS when i asked for an update. but i am not sure if this is normal for everyone. It usually just takes a month so i was not sure what the delay was for. I had my medicals at St. Lukes.
hello dear! i just like to know the exact dates of your visa app. you lodged on may 23 then had medicals 2 weeks after, say june 6. then when was your results forwarded to embassy by st lukes and when did embassy tell you that yours is still with AUS? so that i have some comparison. how long was your results sent back from AUS to the embassy? thanks thanks dear.
Hi ZDANE,Thank you very much. Did you process all your documents and visa all by yourself? Sadly, I passed my docs in Victoria, and while others are waiting so much in vain, I had mine processed within a month (which for me is not so good because I am still working here in SG).. *sigh..
I already email my case officer. I hope I could extend it for another 2 months.
I processed them on my own. There's no harm in trying. Just inform your case officer regarding your situation and you might be as lucky as I am. :)

I had the same experience before..
I received the proposed decision by Ahpra and considered me as Enrolled Nurse and not as RN. The main reason being my school qualification not deemed to be equivalent to their standard. We are requested to make a submission to counter the decision. we can do so by submitting the ff:
1) Please request a syllabus or course outline of the relevant subjects detailing the theoretical hrs
2) Resubmit the RLE for the clinical hrs
Then explain that based on the Education profiles, your qualification should be considered as u pass the Board.
Will u have enough time to provide these? If not, you will request for extension...
You can request these from your school.
After submitting my documents, they reviewed my application again, then considered me for registration as RN.
Hi, to whom in AHPRA did yo request for an extension? and how did you go about asking for it? I was supposed to go to CON for July intake but was not able to due to visa problems. my letter will expire in September and still don have a confirmation on the next course.Hope you get an extension. :)
Inform your case officer regarding your situation and ask for an extension. You may also ask help from CON. Just be persistent and beg if you must. :)
What visa are you going to apply? 456? if yes, you can lodge your visa without the CoE. just use your offer letter. that's what i did. CoE is only necessary for student visa.
hi zdane.. what are the other requirements needed to apply for a 456 visa? im glad to know that i can apply now using my letter of offer..
