New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

@ shaneneoHave you avail the etea old rate? Any tips how to get the old rate? How much did it cost you for all the immunization that etea required including hep ABC serology, varicella n iGg antibody blah......

ECU does not offer the RN conversion program anymore but instead you have to enroll on their 3 year bachelor of nursing program and apply for recognition of prior learning which will take 3 to 4 weeks waiting time to know how many units has been credited and then you will find out how many years it will take u to finish nursing. To be able to apply for RPL you have to be enrolled first before they will assess you for RPL so meaning you have to study first n be enrolled for 1 sem without RPL then next semester RPL will be applied to you.

I don't have experience also, and right now I'm still working for my IELTS. I'm planning to go at Curtin University. I have read one of the posts here that you can directly apply to the university if you want to enroll in nursing graduate entry. It would be 3 years but we can apply for prior learning exemption for credits, thus, it would only take us 1.5 to 2 years to study. It's expensive though. I opt to choose this (and not the conversion course) because after we graduate, we can already apply for PR.
Correction only. Graduate entry is different from the bachelors degree. I reckon what you mean here is the bachelor degree for nursing which last for 3 years in which you can apply for RPL. Just a suggestion some international student that I have spoke said that ECU is cheaper than curtin. Any ECu. The student I spoke to are from ECU JOONDALUP 20 minutes by train from perth. Not a busy suburb but close to all amenities and walking distance to train station. Students who studied nursing in ECU worked as a part time carer in a nearby suburb to support n finance their studies as well.

do you know a place to stay with in victoria? i am still looking for a place for me to stay in during my BP course... Where are you from?I submitted my application to ETEA earlier but they scheduled me for October 2012 intake, i dont know why.. Do you happen to know about their scheduling or rosters for BP appilcants...

thank you lord. such a blessing today. i still got in october intake for ihna. anyone here on the same boat?

Hello annelle I am also for the same intake. IHNA mailed me sometime back telling that the october intake will start in advance from 24th September. Then they didnt give me any further information. And today I receive another email from them saying that the intake will begin on 8th October. I have been so much confused. Can you tell me if the classes will begin from 8th October for sure and not 24th September? I tried to call IHNA but too late for their office hour.

As much as I wanted to go to Aus as soon as possible, we can't afford the 1-2 years of study, so the BP is my only choice right now. (but even BP is expensive :( ) I'm planning to at least have a year of experience first then I'll try to apply or something. When are you taking your IELTS?
