Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Hello. I have questions about immunisation:
1. I am (+) for PPD, what should I do?
2. Do I also need to have IPV or just MMR, Varicella, Hepa B, DPTa and PPD only?
3. Should the brand name of the vaccine administered be really included in the certification or proof or not necessarily?
Now, I have questions about the visa:
I want to apply for a 456 visa also.
1. Did you answer the question employed or self-employed?
2. How will College of Nursing know that I would need a support letter from them for the visa application?
3. What are the do's and dont's in applying for a 456 visa?
Thank you for you help :-)

Hello. I have questions about immunisation:
-- Hi
1. I am (+) for PPD, what should I do?
--- From what I read from the previous post undergo a chest xray and have your doctor read it.
2. Do I also need to have IPV or just MMR, Varicella, Hepa B, DPTa and PPD only?
MMR, VAricella, HepB, DPTa and PPD only.
3. Should the brand name of the vaccine administered be really included in the certification or proof or not necessarily?
--- not necessarily. I don't have that on my certification.
Now, I have questions about the visa:

1. Did you answer the question employed or self-employed?
zrach and baesa:
SELF employed and leave the other details blank. But if you are employed tick employed.
2. How will College of Nursing know that I would need a support letter from them for the visa application?
They already know that you need a visa support letter from them in order to apply for visa456. Just ask one from them. They don't usually send it once you have completed all requirements, paid 10,000, and confirmed that you have a position in their intakes.
3. What are the do's and dont's in applying for a 456 visa?
DO: Answer honestly.
Thank you for you help

here's what con sent me:
- a valid letter of referral from ahpra
- valid current visa non australian residents (to be eligible for selection 4 weeks prior the commencement date) applicants who are overseas and will be applying for a short stay visa in order to undertake the program may be issued with a visa support letter when all other admission criteria have been met
- payment of course fees in full (to be eligible for selection 4 weeks prior the commencement date)
- evidence of current immunisation status (including hep b and mantoux)
- a criminal record clearance from your country of origin or from the australian federal police
try asking con about the support letter. they don't give it immediately compared before.
i didnt receive an email that my loe is in transit.
Hello everyone!
I sent my application to AHPRA- PERTH and they received it 3 January 2012. I recently sent an updated CV and reference letter as additional documents. The thing is: whenever I have a question or ask for an update in my application, different case officers are responding-- 4 so far. I am confused whether who is the person responsible in my assessment. It is really bothering me because it seems that they are just passing my documents to whoever is available! I was informed by a friend who is now a RN in Australia that A case officer is designated for each case. Another concern is that I heard from my fellow applicants that it is taking AHPRA-Perth a very looooooong time to assess and release LOA's. Is it possible to request a transfer of state for your assessment? (I heard it is a lot faster in Victoria these days.)
Thanks!
