New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

World Registration

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

thanks for the advice! :)

But has anyone here tried to have the supervisor's signature for the CV instead of the chief nurse's signature? our chief's nurse is sort of busy.. :c

I used my supervisors's signature and they seem to accept it...

Hello everyone!

hi dashe! Your baby book will not matter because what they require you are adult doses of the vaccinations.

Thank you so much for the reply jamic. :) So all I have to do is to have those vaccinations. What documentation is needed as proof of the vaccination? Do I need to ask for a certification? I'm sorry for the series of questions. Thank you again.

what is the contact number for philman? location? pls email me [email protected]

hi! I have a similar concern. i got a reply ( a different school though) from William

Light Insitute... here's what I emailed them:

regarding the proofs for vaccination status, would it be okay to have a certified true copy of my baby book? Unfortunately, my pediatrician couldn't be contacted anymore as she might have moved to another country..

Reply from WLI officer:

Thank you for your email. Yes, that is fine. Another option is for you to have a blood test and this will determine what you have been vaccinated against. Then you only need to have the vaccinations that you need.If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

so i guess it depends on the school you're applying with...some require real certifications and not the baby's book...better ask them directly just to be sure. :)

I went to a Pulmo specialist with regards to my positive Mantoux test. The doctor told me that she would suggest that I take anti-TB drugs, even though my chest xray result is clear. It's just to make sure that the positive test won't be a future problem to me. Should I go with it?

I lodged it February 2011 and got the LOE October 2011. That's 8 loooooooooooooong months. I have a dear friend from work who is also a Filipino RN (staying in Oz under a student visa) who still haven't received his LOE. He's been waiting for a year now. :(

Is it the ahpra office who will state which BP school you should enroll??or is it the applicant's choice??

cos i heard that UniSA accepts enrollees with LOEs "to follow", i an wondering if i shall take the BP first, atleast when i get the LOE from ahpra, ive already finished my BP then i can find my job after..?what do you think Ey-em?is it advisable?

Hello sephine!:)

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll just have the adult vaccines and have them certified by a doctor. How did you go about with your immunizations? Thank you.

@ dashe: your welcome! i think that's the best and safest thing to do.. :) actually im still in the process of gathering my ahpra requirements. :)

Good luck and God bless to your application sephine.

Hello Nurses! I would like to share with you the progress of my application in NSW. I lodged my application July 26,2011 and I received an email asking me to send them my TOR and hours for theory and clinical with course description and RLE and so I did. I sent it 2 weeks ago and I emailed my case officer about it. She told me that I would have to wait for the final assessment. I have been waiting for 8 months now so I asked her for a timeframe and she said that the panel meets only once a month so I would have to wait until June of this year. Because of frustration and disappointment, I asked her if I go to Australia via a tourist visa and personally go to AHPRA in NSW if it will fast track my application and she said yes. I would have to present my passport and documents there. My question is, do you know anyone who did the same thing as well? Because my plan is to wait for the LOE in Sydney instead. I hope you'll be able to enlighten my mind. Thanks guys!
