Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses
hi i am a newly registered nurse here in the Philippines.. i am REALLY REALLY interested in working in australia.. i already know that i will undergo bridging program via the IRON program... im just wondering:
1. has anyone here ever been denied by the AHPRA for reasons such as grades, etc?
2. if AHPRA does deny applications, on what grounds?
3. what is the chance of employment after the BP? im just nervous to spend a fortune on a small piece of chance.
4. what is the complete list of requirements by the AHPRA?
PLEASE PLEASE someone answer my questions. would greatly appreciate it. THANK YOU!
hi! i have a positive mantoux test result with clear chest x-ray. i was really worried about the result that i had to ask the clinical placement coordinator a couple of times about this matter. =) here's what he said:[color=cyan]again as i mentioned in my earlier email, i was advised by the chest clinic that even though you have a clear x-ray and positive result to the mantoux test, you will just be required to get another chest x-ray just to confirm that your chest is clear. i have not heard of anyone not being accepted to the course, but again if your chest x-ray comes back positive then that may impact on your course / clinical placement.
clinical placement coordinator of con? what a relief. got positive tst too. thanks!
i paid last october 14, then after that i recieved my visa letter in email on october 18 and got the letter by post mail today ( october 24). But in the invoice details they have recieved the payment on oct. 17.hope we all could make it to the deadline... Goodluck

Let's see if I can help a little bit...1. You obviously need to meet their requirements and if you don't then you would be denied registration. 2. same as above. 3. Chance of employment after BP - slim...you'll need a lot of luck. The job market here now is not the same as it was 2 years ago when they were clamoring for nurses from all corners of the world. Now there are more than enough graduates of nursing that can't find jobs themselves. I know this for a fact at least here in Adelaide, South Australia where I work. They used to hire nurses as soon as they graduate but now if there were vacancies you'd be competing with nurses that do not need work visa like yourself when you finish your BP. So if you don't know anyone here, don't sell your house just for a small chance of a better life that you are not sure will happen.
The Prime Minister recently said that she will be prioritizing jobs for Australians. That means that the road to green pastures has just gotten more difficult.
And for question 4 - read the thread, and download the form. Goodluck
nope i havent applied yet, i think ill be applying for a 456 visa after the holiday season, im still having problem with my saudi police clearance on where to get one hehehe..
me too.. haven't received the hard copies of the receipt and visa offer letter yet. though i can print them. i'll just wait for the originals to be sure.
