New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

World Registration

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

yup. they have doctors on duty; they are the ones who administer the vaccines and provide the certification. btw regarding con, i emailed my case manager to ask if there are still slots for the january intake and here's her reply:

"all requirements including payment of aud $10, 000 is due by 2nd december.

all complete applications will be reviewed by the selection committee of the college and i have no authority to say if you will be selected for jan2012 course."

so does that mean that this is not a "first come, first serve basis" since all the applications will be reviewed after december?

thanks.

i'll go there tomorrow to have my dtap. i tried calling them today but no one is answering so i guess both of the manila branches are close on sundays.

have you paid your tution and submitted the other requirements? i guess that message came from irene right? the director of con sent me the visa support letter in which he stated that on or before jan 9, my visa should be received by them coz if not, i would be placed onto the waiting list.

i really dont know if its a first come first served basis but i guess, students who received the visa support letter is more likely to have a slot for the january intake. again, im not really sure. i just want to submit all the necessary requirements this coming week.

I already completed the vaccines except for the TST and the TB assessment form. I will secure the payment probably this week. So they already issued you a visa support letter even though you haven't completed the requirements? :D Thanks. I PMed you BTW :D

hi guys!

i was wondering if you know bps that commences on june or july for year 2012? i browsed the approved bps at nmba wbsite and if i'm not mistaken, most of them are feb intakes. i'm hoping to make it next year; since, i had problems with my application that i had lodged first week of last month. because they already require the latest app form (agos40) which was published on the third week, my documents were sent back to me and etc. but still, i'm really keeping my hopes up in making it.

thanks to our fellow nurses who successfully made it for the feb intake this coming year for posting their timelines and stories, they really inspire me to be more diligent and patient :)

stay positive! :redpinkhe

hello. last month, you mean september? i too lodged my application 1st week of september and i used the old form, but i haven't heard from ahpra. did they inform you right away? now i'm getting worried

Yes! that was September 7 to be precise. Then they emailed me sept 15 that they already received my documents and that they will be assessing it. After a month (oct 15), I got a call from my aunt (i lodged my application thru her) that they have sent back all my documents together with the payment, and have left a note saying that i should use the new form and some reminders regarding the new form. it was too frustrating but still that's the way it is.

Where did you lodge your application? a friend of mine lodged hers on september 5 and they already charged her credit card and did not ask for the new form. as for me, they only confirmed receipt of my application. this is so frustrating.

thanks.

Hi There!

I go to Jacob's Ladder for my vaccines, I just lack the dTp. They issue a card which they call Certificates of Vaccination. But I guess you can also ask the doctor to make you an official certification. :)

If I may ask, how many days after paying the tuition through TT did you receive the visa support letter?

Thanks in advance!

I lodged my application at VIC. How about you and your friend? Well, they've already given me a reference number. Do you have any idea, what is it for? I guess it's a proof that they have somehow assessed my application.

We lodged our application in WA, and I have no reference number yet :crying2:. maybe that is for identification purposes so they can easily check your record in case you have any queries. I am just not sure.

I see. I just read the fact sheet and FAQ at nmba's website; I should be educating myself and reviewing the course of my application. I don't want to judge VIC for having a different way of accomodating applicants.

yep. probably because i already paid my tuition and almost complete with the immunization requirement. i only lack Dtap by the way. i already submitted the other results to them last week.

so in a way, i am already complete with my requirements and the visa is the only one which im lacking.

let me clarify your statement. so you already went to Jacob's for your Dtap vaccine? how much did you pay for the vaccine, PF, and certification?

i think the tuition is not the determining factor for the visa support letter to be sent to the applicant. please refer to my earlier post.

I had my Varicella and MMR shots with them. I plan to visit them tomorrow or Tuesday for the dTp, which costs 1,400php by the way. I'm not sure if there is additional payment for the certification. They issued me a Certificates of Vaccination card which includes the Vaccine, Product Name, Batch/Lot No., Date, Physician Name/Sig/Lic No. and the Center's Seal. I will also ask if the doctor can give me an official certification that I had all the required vaccines.

Regarding the visa support letter, I guess I have to submit my Evidence of Current Immunisation as soon as I finish the dTp shot. I'm done with the Mantoux test and Hep B titer a few days ago.
