New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

hello imjem :D

do you know the requirements of mercy health? how many years of hospital experience they require? where can i see their application form?

thank you very much :):)

i inquired before about it, Connor replied 3 yrs, i dont know if its still the same..

Hi!

For now, as what i've read from their application letter they're only requiring me this:

1.Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia letter

2.Police Record Check

3.English Proficiency

4.Curriculum Vitae

Must provide an up to date Curriculum Vitae (CV) with 2 professional references and a short letter outlining the reason for requesting entry to the course.

5.Application Fee

A non-refundable application fee of $100 AUD must accompany your application

that's it for now for the application proces. Then once accepted "hopefully" there would be additional requirements like immunisations, health insurance and downpayment of AUD $11,000. That's as far as I understand on their application form. Im still not sure though because I'm still trying to accomplish my form and gather documents for support.

Hi everyone,

It's been awhile since I last logged on. Anyway, just to give you update, am just done with my 3 week lectures in ETEA. Other forum members with me are Mhai and Kokology. With the influx of students from India, there were 2 classes that were done simultaneously. we're only about 15 Filipinos and the rest are indians.

Anyway, flying to Sydney to start my 5 week clinical placement in a private hospital in woy woy area. Whewwwww. Almost done!!!!

By they way, was able to get a very nice accommodation near the school. It's $160/week including utilities. My landlady is so nice and accommodating unlike the horror stories I hear from other classmates and other Pinoys from IHNA. My landlady is not Filipina but she prefers Filipino boarders because she loves to eat adobo among other reasons.

For all those looking for accommodations, be very wary about using websites. If you do get one from the internet, make sure to have someone you know to check it for themselves before you pay anything. Heard a lot of sob stories from others taking the bp. They were taken advantaged of and you cannot get back your deposit from them. Whenever you make payments, make sure to ask for any written receipt.

My accommodation is just walking distance from IHNA and a short 6 min bus ride to ETEA. I even asked my landlady to reserve me a bedspace when I get back from my clinicals. Will plan to stay on until I fly back to the Philippines before the holidays to spend some quality moments with my family. Will be flying again to Melbourne to hopefully start work after the New Year.

For those looking for accommodation near or in Heidelberg area, just PM me. Would be more than glad to assist you and recommend you to my landlady. You won't regret living here.

This is it for now. Will update everyone every chance I get. Keep the faith in yourself going. Cheers!!!!

Good to hear from you Joiemike! I guess you classmates there with my batchmate because I heard the same thing, flying to Sydney for your clinicals. Goodluck!

Jacob's Ladder :D

BTW can you send me the link where I can DL the vaccination forms and TB assessment tool. Thanks :D

http://www.mhti.com.au/Courses/Health-Courses/Return-to-Practice-Program-(RTP).aspx here is the link for Mercy Health Training....at least you would not have to fly interstate to do clinicals.....that is ridiculous.

Though clinicals are very difficult for universities these days to obtain due to the number of undergraduates they now have.

hi guys!!!

i´m sooooooo over the moon! after a month away (i was in the states for my honeymoon!) i arrived 2 hours ago here in brazil to find my so dreamed elegibility letter!!!

it was dated from sept.05th, however on sept.27th my case manager wrote to me saying that my docs would go to the next boarding meeting.....and then i travelled and the brazilian post office was going through a strike....

well, what matters now is that i finally havemy letter with me and have to rush for a bp....can anyone enlight me on the bps still available for the beggining of 2012??

thank you for all your wonderful support!! this thread hasbeen a blessing in my life! as cioman always says..."praying helps a lot"

to god be all the glory!!!

Hi guys! My friend and I are hoping to be accommodated at CON for their January intake. Good luck to everyone! Hope to see you guys at CON. =) To those who are still waiting for their eligibility letters, have faith.=)

Hi!

Haveu already enrolled at CON? I´ve just searched their website but could not find the dates for 2012....

yup. they have doctors on duty; they are the ones who administer the vaccines and provide the certification. btw regarding con, i emailed my case manager to ask if there are still slots for the january intake and here's her reply:

"all requirements including payment of aud $10, 000 is due by 2nd december.

all complete applications will be reviewed by the selection committee of the college and i have no authority to say if you will be selected for jan2012 course."

so does that mean that this is not a "first come, first serve basis" since all the applications will be reviewed after december?

FYI...

castlemaine is no longer accepting applications for 2012 due to the high numbers of applics on their :crying2:list....
