New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Hi I had my documents submitted to APHRA, is there anyone who would be talking the bridging program in Queensland? does anyone know what institution is offering BP and how much does it usually cost?

If you have information please share.

Thank you so much

Hi All,

I just want to share my timeline in AHPRA VIC Registration

July 11, 2011 - AHPRA confirmed receipt of my application via email

July 29, 2011 - Preliminary Assessment begun, email said updates will be within 1-8weeks.

October 10, 2011 - I phoned AHPRA to enquire about registration status but AHPRA person said that there are no updates yet.

October 20, 2011 - Email saying I lack documents like Certificate of Good Standing aka Stateboard Verification; I insisted that I have already confirmed that one by calling AHPRA last August; Registration officer apologised and gave me the long-awaited Eligibility letter for bridging course.

Yahooo! Now, who's enrolling for next year's BP? Please PM me. As far as I know, there are no more vacancies for any school this year, noh?

I received this reply from Deakin:

Dear Student

This course (referring to IRON Program) may not be offered in 2012. hence we do not accept applications for this course at this stage.

Kind regards

Looks like there are few schools offering bridging program next year.

I wonder how is Joiemike doing now with his BP in ETEA. I heard they are close to ending their theory part and is to start with clinicals soon. :)

Princessblush...those schools are u referring to Queensland?

I hope they would offer here coz if its going to be in other state I might not be able to do it, Just curuious they have hig demand for nurses why do they have to make it difficult?

Because 'they' do not have that big of nurse shortage...not when 'they' have nz nurses as a supply as well as there are lots more locals getting nursing degrees as well!

Because 'they' do not have that big of nurse shortage...that the need to set up schools just for nurses that require the courses when they have more locals getting nursing degrees and nurses from many other countries as well that are not required to do a bridging course.... I

...hi try to search "philippine embassy in riyadh-consular services (saudi police clearance)" they can issue police clearance even you're outside the kingdom but i guess it will take time...i've read this from their site...

"however, for australia and other countries that do not accept the no derogatory record issued by riyadh pe, we are ready to continue receiving and endorsing the applications for the saudi police clearance, but the applicants must be aware of the documentary requirements and duration required to obtain such police clearance."

meaning australia dont honor the no deragatory record from philippine embassy? i already read that site, but it says there that if your already outside ksa, they will issue only no deragatiry record.

"(as of 01 july 2010) we receive requests for facilitation with saudi authorities for the issuance of police clearances which are often used for immigration to countries. the saudi police will issue any resident a police clearance upon endorsement by the consulate. if the requesting party is no longer in the kingdom, the consulate issues a certificate of no derogatory record.

a. if applicant is in jeddah/western region:

for applicants in jeddah or any province of the western region, the consulate general will endorse the application for police clearance to the office of the director of the police department, jeddah.

  1. copy of valid philippine passport
  2. copy of valid saudi iqama/residence permit
  3. fee: sr100.00

b. if applicant is outside jeddah/in the philippines:

for applicants outside jeddah, a certificate of no derogatory record, in lieu of a police clearance, will be issued. the saudi government, as a matter of policy, does not issue a police clearance to foreigners who are outside the kingdom.

applicants in the philippines should apply for the said certificate at the office of the undersecretary for migrant workers' affairs (oumwa). oumwa will forward the application to the consulate general for issuance of said certificate.

  1. copy of previous passport/s showing date of entry and exit from jeddah
  2. copy of employment certificate during the period of stay in jeddah
  3. fee: php1,160 payable to the cashier section, 4th floor, office of fiscal management, department of foreign affairs
