New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Thank you very much for the reply! I really appreciate it a lot :):):)... Actually I've sent them already my documents together with the completed vaccination requirements and what's left for me to do is pay the tuition fee.

I want to ring them first but the number of the coordinator I'm calling is out of reach... If you don't mind, can you send me via PM the number of the coordinator you contacted?

Thanks a lot! :)

Hi again. I'm sorry I still can't send a PM. You can use the number posted in their website and they will pass you to the right person or maybe when you dialed the direct number of Ms. XXXX you did not put +61? Try that first because that's what happened to me before, dial +61 then the direct number.

Good day nurses..

I would like to ask if the Certificate of Good standing and License Verification Form are the same? Since the New Mexico-BON confirmed me that they will my License Verification form to ahpra. While AHPRA sent me an email that they are waiting for my Certificate of Good Standing from New Mex-BON..

I am just anxious that they arent the same at all..

Please give light with my query..

Thank you so much

I don't think the two is just the same. Certificate of GS's content is about clearance that you don't have offense and/or worst, criminal records with regards to your profession. No records of you that your license has been suspended or revoked. The other one is just confirmation that you are an RN in New Mexico. I'm not really sure but that is what I thought. Anyone else who could help makikayRN?

Actually license verification and Certificate of Good Standing can be the same. I know my state BON usually includes the offenses or any notation or any records that maybe related to my license. So in a sense, it's basically the same. The only way to know if the content is the same is to ask NM BON on what is included on their license verification.

hey guys. i asked ahpra about william light institute and this is what they had to say about it:

please be advised that the courses you are enquiring about, run by the william light institute, are not accredited with the nursing and midwifery board of australia (nmba). even if the course is affiliated with ballarat university it would still require accreditation with nmba.

if you review the list of nursing programs at http://www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au/accreditation.aspx you will find accredited bridging programs listed at page 4 and 5.

hi! i'd like to ask regarding my application status to AHPRA for the bridging course. I've sent my complete docs last May 2, 2011 but up until now, I still got no reply. Does it really take that long to wait for AHPRA's reply? and the worst part is, my IELTS expired last July. what should I do? are there any other alternatives so I could get an eligibility in a faster way? please help.. thanks.. :)

Did you apply at Vic? I passed my requitements last March at Vic but it took 5 mos before I got a feedback. I was also thinking of reapplying then but they advised me not too senci i have waited for 5 mos already. True enough I got my letter 1 week after they asked me for additional requirements. I'm was relieved I didn't have to go through the hassle of securing the hassle of securing all the requirements and waiting all over again (they won't forward my docs. They said they can just refund around $100+)

Maybe you can try calling them to follow up your application and email-ing them lots of times. :D

Does anyone know somebody who completed his/her BP in AAON or WLI and was able to register with the NMBA? I know that these schools are not in the list of accredited nursing programs of AHPRA. University of Ballarat is part of the list and AAON and WLI are UB partner providers. And since I submitted my application to both schools, I'm getting worried...

thanks razektine! yup, i applied at vic and i was thinking if they really got my application or what coz it's taking too long.. will there be any problems should i decide to reapply at perth without pulling out my docs at vic? i still have to retake my ielts though.. and, hmm, another question, where could i find their contact details? ahpra seems not to have an e-mail ad on their webpage.. thanks in advance.. :)

There is a query page somewhere in their website. You can fill it up. Also, their contact number is there somewhere in their contact us page. You'll have no problem reapplying if you want just as long as you retract your previous application. I tried asking them if I can have two simultaneous applications just so I can pursue whichever responds first. I keep getting vague answers and I'm getting very impatient. Anyway, they consistently advise against reapplying so I decided to wait. )

thanks a lot razektine! i too am getting a bit impatient.. i will just do constant follow-ups with ahpra.. and.... patience is a virtue! it'll come soon., who knows, we might even see each other in oz., so the best of luck to all of us! :)

Hi there, I paid them already since I was quite sure that I have the right contact person. The person I've been in touch with was the same person passed to me when I called their number listed in their website. I also asked her about assurance for my January intake and she said that once you have already paid the full course fee, with vaccinations and with visa before dec.16 then you are in for their January intake. Now, I'm going crazy completing my vaccinations. Sigh!

Thanks very much for this message! KUDOS to you!!!! I'm a coffee drinker and it hasn't helped me a lot these past few days, getting all the nervousness I do not need in times like this..
