New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

World Registration

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

I'm also interested in La trobe... or ETEA. What made you choose La Trobe by the way? I've heard they have limited slots. The slots available are for August 2012. Too bad for me.

My first choice was actually Deakin Univ, but they are not having January intake. Then my second choice was La Trobe, but was quite hesitant since Bendigo campus is far from where my Aunt lives. I was thinking I could save on accommodation if the school would be near my Aunt. But since La Trobe was the only school that offered me then I just grabbed it.

Hello!

I submitted scanned certified true copies of the documents they were requesting and the next thing they asked from me is to pay the full tuition fee and comply with the immunisations needed. I already paid them earlier today and will be working on with my immunisations tomorrow. Hope this helps.

hi thre, i also have the same letter, can u please tell me where to send my documents, is it the same SSC email add. ( email address)? Hope i can also reciv a reply asking me to pay the full amount, I really wanted to have a seat on january / February intake. goodluck to US ALL!!! thanks...

To chilbrat_1824, doydoy, unadunad, and gl25, I've sent you all PMs

Thanks :)

Hi! sorry can't reply to your pm, got limited posts. CON said to pay full fees and submit vaccination records. They did not tell me that the docs I've sent them are ok or not..The person I am in contact with through email did not mention anything about slots whether it is conditional or not. I plan to call them just to be cautious.

Sorry, it's telegraphic transfer. I paid them through that route. I asked a friend who lives in Sydney about this school and she said it's a respected school, 10 min away from Sydney by train.

Thanks for your reply! Is this a bank to bank transaction? Do I need to get their bank account no.? Sorry for being inquisitive, $10,000 paid one time is a whole lot of money and my fears of losing it has just gone superlative; most especially too that they don't have an agent here in the Philippines, unlike other unis.

I'm dying to wait for your reply.:redbeathe

Hi there!

Thanks for your reply.

It's also what I'm planning to do, to call them first and verify everything before paying the Tuition Fee.

Thanks, I'll keep you posted :)

Do you realise that it may take another 3-4 months or even longer for assessment and then there is getting into a bridging program, it may be 6-9 months before you are a Registered Nurse in Australia, the question should be, how long will I have a job available in 6-9 months are they prepared to wait and pay and sponsor me to have that job so that I can stay and work in Australia.?

I hope it is not a pca job unless you have work rights and being a pca is not on the SOL list.

Hi, what do you mean by pca job and SOL?

Hi princessblush :)

Do you know when will be the next or earliest intake of Deakin Uni year 2012?

Thank you

The person I was in contact through email from Deakin said "the course will not be running on January and February as we predicted, but instead, it will be in May 2012".
