New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Elaborate, as in explain it in detail? or just the major changes? I think, AGOS-04 was the old form and AHPRA is now using the AGOS-40. The main difference, I guess, is the English language component.

it's not really confusing. you just have to read.

if you follow this link: http://www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au/registration-and-endorsement/forms.aspx

under general registration, click on application for general registration (graduated or trained overseas) as a registered nurse, enrolled nurse or midwife agos-40

that's the only form for overseas nurses in their website so you can't go wrong.

can anyone send me their contacts regarding their application in aust.. I will be going to the aus embassy tom at ayala for inquiry.

@iamnomad thanks man..Im worried about the fees lol

you are from states and you want to work in aus?

yeah, application is a little expensive, but cheaper than the US (including CGFNS CES). And of course, the thousand dollars worth of bridging program.

yes, I'm here in the US working as a nurse, but I'm Filipino. and yes, someday I want to work in Australia, too. That's why I'm applying for registration.

Kind of pointless to go to the embassy just to ask when you can download the form from the AHPRA website. You could probably get more information here than from the embassy. Do visit their website though otherwise don't waste your time and money.

Hi! my documents are now complete and good to go; that is after browsing and reading the discussions.. just to be sure that I won't be missing something.. I have read that the "potential employer" of one of the members here did not acknowledge his/her documents pertaining to his/her statement of service because it did not adhere to AHPRA standards?

If I am going to follow this strictly does that mean that the certification coming from my previous employer need to have a "Statement of Serivce" on its letterhead? My employer did not put the exact phrase instead, "Certificate of Employment" Is this acceptable?(I believe they are of the same meaning) but I'm a bit paranoid for fear that I'm might encounter some problem in the future..especially when presenting this documents to my "future" employer in Australia.

Please enlighten me about this..anyone?

Thank you!:)

There is no need have "statement of service" written as letterhead,it just means that you need to include the name of the hospital, phone no,an address, etc. . Work certificate is not standardized, employers has their own format,Just follow AHPRA guideline on work statement of service found in AGOS-40 form ( Page 4 Section E), you need to ask your employer make a certificate if one of the required info is not found on your statement of service such as if your work is full time or part -time . :)
