Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

What I understood from the exipiration of the offer is that it will still be valid until December 1 IF places are not yet filled up. A lot of forumers here who were given the offer letter have accepted already. That's the reason maybe LA Trobe said that January intake is full already. :)Maybe you can still try to plead to give you a slot. Just state your reason to them and hopefully they'll consider that. :)
I just sent mine last week, September 23 to be exact...they gave me a username and password so that i could be able to access their student portal... i did, and found out that I am being assessed for the May 28, 2012 intake...but i am trying to persuade them to include me in the January intake since my IELTS is going to expire March next year...Hopefully, they would reconsider their decision...
La Trobe University IRON course January Intake is already full. Next intake will be on May.:crying2:
Aww that was quick...Were you able to start your application? Let's hope that they included the offer letters they've sent too in their count. Try to call them up to plead.
Prayers and positive thinking will surely help. :)

Looks like you have a very tight schedule. You probably should think about retaking the IELTS... or find a BP that will take you in but I'm sure you've already thought about that.

I submitted my application 2 weeks ago. Those who were included on the January intake batch I think had paid their tuition fee already that is why they closed the January intake, they cannot just accommodate us all. I asked if i can get the slot if someone back out but she told me they will just send an email to all who missed out on the January intake. Let us just wait, I hope it is not final . :)
can anyone tell me the contact number of Philman? please............ thanks.......... [email protected]
@sheer_bliss
do you have contact number for PHILMAN? can you email it to me in : [email protected]........... thanks
Called La Trobe just a few minutes ago to ask for updates regarding my application for their IRON PROGRAM and unfortunately the lady told me that January intake is already full since 40 people paid fully their tuition fees.
She instructed me to email her if in case I wanted to be considered for their May intake but I told her I'll think about it since my IELTS and LOE will soon be expiring.
I've asked her if is there any chance to be considered for January intake but then again to my dismay, no chance at all since all of them paid their tuition fees.
Anyways, I called AAON to enquire if their January intake for IRON Program is already full and the lady told me that students are still coming, and they are still accepting applications. Tuition fee is 11thou AUD though. :) Not bad still much cheaper compared to other schools.
So might be considering AAON now, hope and pray to get a slot for their January intake. :) :) :)
Who is coming with me, lemme know guys. :) :) :)
Thanks!

Aww I feel sad we won't be classmates. I was really hoping you get in to La Trobe. . I do hope and pray you get a slot in AAON then. I actually sent my application there too last month I guess but they never replied. It would be nice because it's nearer. La Trobe, Bendigo is far. Hehe. :)
Hi,Can anyone help me with this?
I browsed the AHPRA website and it stated there that IELTS score of 7 in all categories must be obtained in ONE SITTING..
does this mean IELTS taken the first time must be 7 in all bands? or you can retake it as many times as long as you get the 7 required?
just a bit confused with that statement, thank you in advance for your help!
AHPRA does not look into the number of times of have taken the test. They are only after your score which should be no less than 7 in all subtests. What they meant about "one sitting" is that you should get a score of at least 7 in all 4 subtests in 1 exam. AHPRA needs to specify this since there are some countries like New Zealand that accepts IELTS score 7 in all categories that are taken several times. Say, you took the exam and got 7 in reading and listening and 6.5 on writing and listening. The following month you seated again the exam and have the following scores: R- 6.5, L-6.5, W-7, S- 7. From these results you can combine all the sevens in your 2 exams so that you can pass their requirement of all 7 in each subject.
Hope this clarifies your query.

so, the term they used "IN ONE SITTING" does not necessarily mean IELTS score taken only once? i just want to make sure so i wont waste any money. Because when you receive your ielts test form it will indicate that you are already a retaker. Im just wondering if they will accept it.
thanks :)
