Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Your friend was right about not taking the IELTS test for as long as you can prove that your secondary education and nursing course were taught in English. But come Sept 19, 2011, things have drastically changed in that only countries mentioned like US, UK, Canada, NZ, South Africa (I don't remember what else) are exempt from the IELTS requirement (Please read the most recent bulletin from AHPRA about this for your guidance). So, yeah, you have to get the minimum 7 in all IELTS categories and in one sitting.
As for the 2 years study in Australia, your friend is right in the sense that it gives you additional points for PR purposes. But it doesn't preclude other PR applicants who have already chalked up the minimum 65 points even without the 2 year study in Australia. Please read the DIAC points system for your guidance. Don't take your friend or others' words including mine as the gospel truth. It pays to research on your own to validate everything so you won't be confused with a lot of opinions and suggestions. It's your life's career that's at stake here and not others'.
in one sitting? really? thanks so much for the info :) at least somehow it has cleared my mind and i won't have to worry about getting p.r someday. anyhow i will still read on DIAC and AHPRA :) thanks much joie!
hello everyone!!!
I got my AHpra eligibility letter last July and right now I am still looking for the BP school. I am having a confusion in answering some of the forms because they're asking for a visa already upon enrollment for the BP program. from my understanding, I need to get a letter of offer from the BP school first so I could apply for a Visa. Am I right? I'm really confused on how to answer some of the forms.. please i need help.. thanks a lot!!!

hello everyone.
im relieve and become more hopeful after reading all the experiences of our nurses applying AHPRA since i did send to AHPRA WA my application together with all other required documets from TOR, CV, IELTS result and etc last July. At first, i was really nervous of applying especially that i had only Training Hospital Service for almost 3 years but after reading to some write ups here who successfully received their eligibility despite of zero or volunteering experience they had.
Now i have some queries regarding the documents i sent last July.
1. I send my CV, however there were no signature of my employer.
Do i need to make another one that has a signature and send it to ahpra? Or
il just wait for them to email me if they need it?
2. After sending my application with my documents, my registration officer emailed
me that she received my application. And she asked me to send my course outline and my theoretical and clinical units.
I asked my school registrar if they can procure me a theoretical and clinical units,
but they told me that all those things can be found in my TOR , so what i did i just
send another TOR plus my RLE with a note above that all my theoretical and clinical units are included there. Do you think what i did is ok?
3. After i finished compiling the documents they asked, i send it to the same address i used before. I forgot to place the name of my reg officer. Do you think my papers will still be handed to my reg officer? What should i do? im scared that someone will receive it and wont be handed it over to my reg officer.
4. I include my NCLEX license id in my documents. Are they going to ask me more about the license?
Sorry if i got a lot of questions. Hoping someone will answer my queries.
Thank you so much

no. 3 as for me, i also forgot to address my docs to the reg. officer assigned to my case but i placed my contact/reference number and i guess they'll be able to trace that, because my reg. officer emailed me and said she received the outstanding docs.
no.4 in the agos-04 form it states that "the board requires a certificate of registration status or
certificate of good standing from every jurisdiction outside
australia in which you are currently, or have previously been
registered as a health practitioner during the last 5 years.
you must arrange for original certificates to be forwarded directly
from the licensing or registration authority to the nursing and
midwifery board of australia. " so what i did was to request still a certificate of reg. from the state i was licensed and asked them to forward it directly to ahpra and paid a fee.:)
