Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

thank you sweet_tooth and JoieMIke.
:) Which DPT vaccine did you have sweet_tooth? Which one does not have reported side effects? hehe.
I'm "chicken" scared when it comes to vaccines. I had Hepa B booster dose last month. I reckon it is okay to have the DPT now or the next month?
thanx thanx thanx
Hi guys,
At the risk of being off-topic, I just want to ask for comments anyway. My PRC ID will expire this January. Do I really need to renew it? Will it still be useful to have a current, valid PRC ID when you're in Australia already?
The reason I asked is that I was intending to renew the ID before I leave. Went to PRC a few days ago. The girl at the window told me that I can, indeed, apply for renewal 4 to 6 months before my ID expires and that the renewed ID will be released 4 to 6 months later. The problem though is that you can only apply for renewal on the same year that your present ID expires. Huh???!!! So, it means that they can only accept renewals for 2012 January of next year. Since my expiry is January, they can only accept renewal applications on January also.

I had Boostrix :) As to the side effects, sorry can't help you with that. I guess it's fine to have your DPT now but to be sure, just ask your doctor. I had the Boostrix shot about 3 weeks ago and just this afternoon I received my Hepa B booster. My doctor said it was okay.

Well I'm not really sure if we NEED to but to be safe I renewed mine last month because it'll expire on October. Do not believe the girl! I got mine the same day! Be sure to ask for the application form for renewal with "Express" on it or something like that. Paid about 900+ pesos. The regular fee is 450 pesos but you'll have to come back for it after 2 months I think.
Don't waste your 100 bucks by having your picture taken outside PRC (with the nametag). You won't be needing it. :)
Hi to everyone. Im a newbie here. :)I also sent my application to AHPRA western australia last May. And I got an email from a registration officer last June 14 that they have already received all my documents.. If rumors are true that they have a speedy process there in WA, then I guess I should be expecting my eligibility really, REALLY soon.
HOPING.. PRAYING..

i have 27 months of experience in the ER but all of it are only volunteer experiences, is that an enough credential?Where are you in Australia cioman? Correct me if im wrong,if you take your BP in a certain state(for example you took it at ETEA in Victoria), you will be only registered at Victoria and not on other states? is that correct?

It's Tetraxim - a combination of DPT + Polio Myelitis vaccine. I think I paid P900 to the doctor. It was already in a syringe (like most vaccines now). It didn't hurt at all at the time when I was inoculated. I didn't even massage or put ice afterwards. But boy was I wrong!!!
My arm really hurt for almost a week!!!! The only consolation though was at least it was my non-dominant arm.
