New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

may i know what are you enrolling in TAFE NSW for??? BP for nursing registration?? ...unless you clarify, then the answer would be: no, nobody is in that july intake you mention...

I'm an RN. I graduated last 2006. took the board & passed. I previously worked at Riyadh for almost 2 years. Then decided to go to OZ since my Aunt is living there. She advised me to take 2 year course so I went to IDP for assistance. Got 6 TBS so I can't do bridging programs! :o

So, doing a diploma and enrolling as an enrolled nurse allows you to stay and work in Australia? With an aunt as sponsor and Enrolled nurse not on needed skills list?

I would take a look at the DIAC website, new rules for people studying in Australia then applying for PR especially when this course is less than 2 years and not on skills list.

Otherwise everyone can get working allowed visa and long term stay to do this way as it would be much cheaper than bridging or conversion course and less hassles all round. Then apply for RN assessment and work towards paying for bridging program while in Australia for those that are really poor and cannot afford the bridging program and registration fees.

Only hassle would be it takes 18 months, so what you could be working as pca with student visa.

ps not an immigration agent, just observer

BTW what TBS? that it stops you doing bridging course when you passed PRC?

thank you so much for the offer! I haven't submitted my requirements to AHPRA yet, but I will keep this in mind. Are your sisters new nurses as well? :) i might have taken the board exams together with them last july!

well one's an accountant and the other's a nurse. but the nurse won't be added to our long line, she's taking up medicine this coming school year (lucky girl, ..and lucky us. hehe. ).. she's pretty much just sleeping during the day and partying all night.

She owes me a few favors so it wont be a problem. just give me the heads up :)
