Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses
Hi! I have some questions:
How can the fees be settled to AHPRA? Should it be via credit card?
Should I settle it before I send out my requirements?
And Am I right that I should send them a certified copy of the ff:
- AGOS 04 application form (should this be notarized too?)
- Passport
- Philippine Driver's License
- Certificate of employment
- NBI Clearance
- PRC license
- (Should I really present a bank account or ATM card photocopy?)
Kindly help me on this. Thanks so much!
Hi. Your posts have been very informative and helpful especially to those who are interested to work in oz. Can i just ask if they accept 2 results of IELts for the 7 requirement score, as long as both results are still valid. Thank you.
I think the most recent/latest result is the one valid. I remember the agency where I reviewed for the IELTS before told me that if I retake the IELTS, the previous scores will be void and whatever results come out of the latest IELTS will be the one valid. Well unless my agency was wrong with that information :)

i suggest you read the first few pages of the thread...it will just take you a few minutes, much better if you can take time to read the entire thread 'coz i guarantee you its very informative and helpful (your questions are among the basic of all questions that can be answered in the first few pages of the thread, and the instructions are all given in the agos-04 form as well).
but as far as i recall (since i don't have much time to browse back the pages & i'm done with my eligibility):
- agos 04 application form (should this be notarized too?) - original copy (not certified), i don't see a portion where you are asked to notarize it
- passport - yes. certified copy.
- philippine driver's license - i don't see this being asked. are you referring to the 100 points proof of identity? if that is so, your passport and birth certificate will do right?
- certificate of employment - original or certified copy
- nbi clearance - this is not being asked also in the agos-04 right? unless you have a previous criminal record that has been cleared then you attach this.
- prc license - yes. certified.
- (should i really present a bank account or atm card photocopy?) - again, this isn't asked in the agos-04 right?
you really should just follow what is being required in the form.
don't forget your:
-tor (sent directly by your school to ahpra)
- diplomas (high school and college) - certified
- ielts (sent directly by idp to ahpra)
- curriculum vitae
- certificate of good standing/verification of license - (sent directly by prc to ahpra)
- birth records/marriage records if applicable
payment can be made through credit card, cheque, money order. if you browse the pages of this thread you can actually see how others did it, but mine was paid through credit card.
if you pay using credit card, then you settle it along with your requirements since there is a portion in the agos-04 asking you the card details. well basically, all forms of payment should be made with the application.
193 pages is not so much to read in return of a handful of information you can get. i really hope everyone are patient to read them because i personally just went through my application by reading this thread post by post, detail by detail, and my application was never returned nor required additional documents (except the changes due to the transition of the boards), in other words they were all complete and i owe it all to this thread and by reading ahpra website too.
goodluck :)
Are the docs required by AHPRA to be printed specifically on A4 sized paper only (the international standard, most commonly used)?I was told this info by an agency but I dont recall having read this info here when I was browsing.
Thanks.
Nope, if it was required it would have been stated so in the form. I submitted mine using the letter size 8.5x11 (short). But its your choice if you want to use the A4 size since its normally used internationally. Even my enrollment application to the College of Nursing I also used the short-sized. Goodluck :)
has anyone of you tried reading the "Skilled - Independent (Migrant) Visa (Subclass 175)" on the http://www.immi.gov.au website? i tried answering and i got the pass mark which is exactly 120 points but i'm not sure if i answered it correctly. even if i will choose this pathway instead of the employer sponsored 457 visa, i still have to go through the bridging program right?
Age = 30
English language ability = 25
Nominated skilled occupation = 60
Community language = 5 (assuming I have already taken a formal Tagalog exam. weird!)
Total = 120
how do you interpret the statement "You have met the Australian study requirement" found on http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/175/eligibility-qualification-aust.htm ?
hello again! in the 456 checklist, how do i obtain an evidence of medical/travel insurance? i can't seem to find the answer in the diac website. http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/business/_pdf/456-checklist.pdf
hi what other schools offer conversion program? how long is the duration of this program? and how much are the fees?
I know 2 schools in Australia that offer such program:
1. Murdoch University in Perth (1 year for AUD $15000)
2. UniSA's Australian Registered Nurse Training Program (6 months for AUD $14550)
These programs do not require an eligibility letter from AHPRA prior the start of the course and may lead to registration to practice as a Registered Nurse in Australia. Can you guys add to the list if you have some schools to add? Thanks!

The points you allocated was just for your own self-evaluation. Its not yet the final one. It will be officially assessed by the case officer and awarded the necessary points as deemed suitable by the officer, meaning your self-evaluation may either decrease or increase.
For community language, to be awarded points you still need to be assessed by DIAC's accredited translator (NAATI something?, not sure if i got the acronym right).
Yes you still need to do an assessment of competence/bridging program as it is a requirement of ANMAC who will assess the nursing profession, thus giving you points for "Nominated Skilled Occupation" of 60 once they assess your suitability to the occupation.
I'm not sure if you are qualified for the 5 points as having met the Australian study requirement because CoN's assessment of competence program is non-award (does not lead to an Australian Award or study requirement).
My spouse and I did this but under subclass 176 (Sponsored) and since we applied last year we follow the old ruling to the skilled migration visa, just this year their policies on skilled migration will change again...

You need to purchase for yourself medical/travel insurance, because as a temporary visitor in Australia, the government wants to be sure that if you get sick or something happens to you, you are covered with insurance. ********* (also a forumer here who got her 456 visa already) told me she didnt get any insurance but her show money was "quite" big ^_^. I haven't gotten one yet, but I'm looking into OSHC or Blue Cross or Malayan...haven't really decided on this yet if I will get one.

I think Murdoch University is $24,000, the $15,000 is only good for 24 units, am I right? the conversion program is 36 units. There is one in Sydney but when I enquired before they said its only for the locals. I don't know of others anymore, sorry.
But this one, even if it does not require AHPRA eligibility beforehand, it will require one later if you wish to undergo registration, you must take note of your IELTS expiration then otherwise you would need to retake the IELTS as it is a requirement of AHPRA.
If you want to undergo the conversion, you may as an option apply for eligibility already so you can submit your valid IELTS and then enroll in the conversion while waiting for your eligibility to come, that is if you strongly believe you will be eligible. :)
You may also try applying to these universities already because if you apply now you will still be qualified anyway for next year's intake. For Murdoch, all you need to do is to submit scanned copies of your documents in their web portal and your done with your application... fast and easy... at least you will have options later to choose. You can always back out on it. Murdoch also allows you to defer for another year. This is what I actually did before, that's why now I have 2 letters of acceptance (College of Nursing and Murdoch Univ.).
