Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
maybe we can meet here in melbourne...together with chabeli and other filipino rns...
hi farah,
was wondrin where you've been , lol.. so what school did you enroll in? by the way, i lodged my student visa application already last friday, i was wondering how soon did you get a decision? i'm looking forward to meeting all of you. did you buy your ticket only after you received your visa? and one more question, are you on subclass 575?
thank you :)
Hi! I'm a newbie here.. Just want to share that I'll be attending the bridging program at Curtin this coming feb 2010. I noticed that only a few nurses are going the WA route.. I know It's kinda expensive and long but I think it's all worth it. I'm just waiting for my visa. I don't have any experience so It was quite a shock to me that i got accepted..Prayers do help a lot :) Well, hoping I could meet someone who is going to Curtin like me;)armiRN
Hi ArmiRN & Blinq
I contacted the Program Coordinator for the bridging course at Curtin Univ. and I was told that the bridging program takes a year even if you have a letter from NMBWA.
Have you been told that it is no longer 6 mos to undergo the program but it will take a year to do it?
Thanks.

hey, I was planning to go to Curtin, too...really? anyway, I have a question: where did you send your application to NMBWA, is it to their postal address or to their office address?
I already inquired about that through email when I saw the announcement on their website. They told me that I should just present the letter on the first day of class and they will give me the units needed to be registered. :)
Hi ArmiRN
I am supposed to go this Feb. I have been in contact with them often but I was told about it the day they have made the changes. Have you contacted the program coordinator of the bridging program? Let me know as well at your end.
Thanks.

Hi there:)
I am not aware of that information, however, that was my primary concern before I lodged my application at Curtin. Verified this matter early on and was advised that I only need to present the NMBWA letter of eligibility at the Nursing department to reduce the duration of study to 1 semester. I was even required to provide a minimum of 6 months clinical experience to complete the application.
This was the message I received from Miss Caroline Khoo, Admissions Officer of CUT:
"........we only offer the one year B Sc Nurs Conversion program.
However, when she gets to Perth to enrol at the School of Nursing and
show her letter of eligibility from the Nurses Board, she can do the 6
months Bridging program. Please be mindful that she will not get a
certificate from Curtin University. She will only get her transcript
results. Hope this is clear."
:yeah:

Also lodged my student visa application last 22 October, 2009 and received an email yesterday from the embassy re the receipt of my application 26 October, 2009. Hope to have the visa approval this month (sigh)
