I am currently working on my FNP. I have been an ER nurse from the beginning of my nursing career. It's all I know. I hate to ask people what they make, but I have to ask because I am seeing a wide range of numbers online during Google searches, plus, I don't know if the sources are legitimate. I have heard people make references to 120k+ per year, but those remarks have come from other RNs, not NPs.
Can anyone shed some light on this topic for me? I am in the Charlotte, NC area. Where can I get reliable information? I appreciate the input that anyone can provide.
In my part of Texas, companies like TeamHealth are contracted to run the local ER's (which are very busy) and they pay very well. Two of my friends got hired in the ER's they worked in as RN's, and started at $65/hr ($135k) a year. One of the companies also offers all kinds of bonuses when they are short. Just last week they were offering an extra $2500 to the NP's/PA's to pick up a short shift. It can be crazy hours, but at least in my area, the ER's are the best paying jobs.
I work for two large groups that staffs ER with two large hospital chains in Houston. First Houston and Dallas are exceptionally high in pay with low living expense in relation to the rest of the State. A full time NP with my full time position pays over 100 per hour with incentives for productivity and the other pays 85$/ hr with no productivity incentive. Either way it's much better pay than I could have anticipated. But there are several factors that play into how much you actually make and the structure your employer has set up such as independent contractor status vs employee and several other things
I'm out of school about 1.5 years and am getting about 150K/yr. With opportunities to make 100/hr working a clinic with extended hours for acute visits. Your best bet would be to join your local APRN organization and do some networking. It's amazing to me how little we do that as a profession and the resources that are available to us when we collaborate with each other. Good luck.
I live in East Texas and there are 2 major hospitals in my town and 1 minor hospital. I emailed the physician/mid-level recruiter that was listed on their website and asked her what mid-levels are being started out. She emailed me back promptly and said $105,000 plus all benefits. I would suggest doing that and just tell them you are doing research about where you may want to apply. Good luck!

I also live in Charlotte. I just graduated in May. My first offer was 91,520 in outpatient mental health. You also need to see if they offer any CE money and your benefit packet/paid time off. This is salary, 40 hours a week. Regular business hours/no weekends.
