I'm sure it depends on how you study, but the pre-tests really helped me. Not only did they expose me to how the questions on the actual test were presented, but it also helped me figure out what I needed to study more. As a bonus, I recognized a couple questions from each of the practice tests on the real test - I thought of it as bonus points:)
You get 2 tests with each of the pretests. I did one before I started intensively studying for each test and took the other about a week before I took the actual test. That way I could refresh myself on any areas that I was still not as familiar with as I liked.
I also used a NCLEX review guide to study for all my tests in addition to the resources recommended by Excelsior.

Is their anyone out there that can recommend if the pre test is benificial to purchase before actually taking the test at Excelsior.
