For agency work (regardless if medical/nursing or temp/secretarial) I've had to submit my own medical exam & titers/Tb results but not a background check nor drug screen. That's not to say it's unheard of, but I'd say its not common. Most of the nursing homes in my area consider background checks (manditory per federal and state law) part of the cost of doing business.
I was just a little thrown off because I've never had to pay for my back ground check any where before but I did bring in the money order and it of course came back all clear so I start Monday. Times have definetly changed so I guess they have a reason for having new employees pay for it.

What place is it for?

I just got a new job in LTC. I have to bring in a 17$ money order to pay for my background check but I've never had to do this for any other job.Is this a red flag or completely normal/common?
Thanks!
