They are having an invitation only "community day" today to give the local people a chance to see the new hospital before it opens next month. Somehow and for some reason I don't know why I got an invitation. Must have been on someone's mailing list, that is even though I don't live in the immediate community, I live about 14 miles away. So I accepted the invite and my DH and I are going. Both of us are curious to see the new place because we have heard so much about it. My husband is curious because he used to work in the construction industry from which he is now retired. Right before he retired he actually worked a few days on the new building. I am curious because I worked so many years in health care. So I will get back to you and let you know what I saw.

Yes, please let us know what it is like. Knock on wood, I don't want to find out first hand. I've been able to stay away from there up until this yr with one of my little ones. Seeing the place for nursing school yrs ago and experiecing it first had was different.
Kinda bummed about them moving to the other side of town, but hey...at least we have a children's hospital near by.
It was a really neat tour, got to see the inside of units we will never see once they actually open. So glad I went. They actually took us into regular patient rooms, ICU rooms, PAR and OR. We also toured the ER(41 rooms no less) and outpatient facilities. The DON of Children's took us on tour through the MIS(minimally invasive surgery) unit. I was grateful that she would have the time to spend orienting the public to the new facility like that. They actually do all those keyhole surgeries on very small children. You should see that sixth floor with that playroom and outdoor garden and huge movie screen that drops down. I am blown away, never been so impressed in my life. Thanks to everyone that showed us around and a special thanks to anyone the answered my questions. If I think of anything important I missed I will come back and post.

Can you tell how thrilled I am about this/ It is a good thing to see me excited and happy is it not? I have a tendency to run to the negative I am afraid.

It is a super impressive location. I've had to go there a few times so far to work out logistics for the move, and the CICU, cath labs and ORs are just awesome.
