NET test score

Published

Hi- I just received my Nurse's Entrance Test score today and I got an 81. The national average is a 64, and I was told by my first-choice school that I only need to get above the national average to not have to take it again and to be considered for the program. Still, I was a little disappointed. Does anyone know what a good score is on this test? Is a score of 81 so-so or better than so-so in terms of looking like a promising and intelligent nursing school candidate?

Thanks for your input...

It all depends on what your school requires. My program only looked at the overall composite grade of the english and math & required 50 on both. I think my overall grade was 81%, but really don't know if that is good or not. I just know I made 73 english/88 math, and went way over the 50 required.

I thought the percentile was probably the ranking of those who took it with you, or possibly the same day all over the US????? I dont' know how they get that. My percentile was 97%, so it goes right along with yours. 80/96% - 81/97%

....things that make you go hmmmmmmmmm? lol

Wow, we have really close scores!! I think I had a 72 on english and an 88 in math!!! The percentile thing still makes me curious but at least we know that we did really good!!!!! yay!!! thanks for replying to me!!!

strange question i know, but i have an exam with 60 questions,i have to get :imbar a min of 45 percent ,how many do i have to get correct, and how many can i answer incorrectly?????

I'm thinking it's about 29 questions. You know if you only get 30 questions correct, which means 30 wrong, you will have 50%.

Just do your best to get all 60, and you'll be fine! :)

Good luck!

I called my *future* nursing school, and ended up getting the Assistant Dean of Nursing on the phone! I asked her about the grades, just to make sure I was looking at the correct scores for the "50" we were required to have.

I told her my grades and she said, "Congratulations, those are great grades."

So, give yourself a pat on the back, Megg6483!!!

I just took the NET this morning and now I have to wait 14 days to find out my score! I think I did pretty well. The math is easier to know if you got it or not, the reading a little more difficult, though I did really well on both sections in the practice tests I took. On the actual NET, I know there were two math questions I did NOT get - I guessed, maybe luck will be with me? Hopefully I didn't make a stupid mistake on the ones I thought I got the right answer for! The reading - it's just so hard to tell if you got them all right or not. The good news is I had time to answer all the questions and really give them some thought, so I guess that's good. I didn't do as well as I thought on the section where it has you reading and then putting the number of the line you were on when the instructor said stop. I know I'm a pretty fast reader, but I was only on line 27 - anyone else want to share what line they were on? I just want to get a feel for how I did with that. I know that doesn't count towards your real score, but it still makes me nervous - that and the stress management section. I mean, what if I get a good score but show that I need help with reading fast and the stress management thing - if everyone applying for the same semester (there were over a hundred of us there, all applying for this next fall, and I know there are only about 15-30 slots open) gets really high NET scores, will they look at the ones who handle stress well and are slow readers and say that they won't get in? I have a 4.0 GPA, and by the end of next semester will have all my pre-requisites done, and I have fantastic reference letters - should I be worried? Three of the students in my classes already have bachelors or masters in biology and health sciences - I'm so intimidated!

My program doesn't even look at reading speed, stress management, etc, only the overall composition, and overal math composition grades.

I think I have lost my ability to speed read (not that it was really ever speed reading, but I've slowed down a bunch.) Maybe I should have got my eyes checked again BEFORE taking the test...that may have helped. lol :specs:

Anyway, my reading rate is: 176 wpm, which apparently is below the national average. BUT!!!! ALL of my other grades (math/reading) are above average. SO, I'm not thinking too much of the reading wpm average. Obviously the average amount of people may read faster than I do, but the average amount of people doesn't comprehend what they read when reading fast, or the national average for the reading portion would be higher. (get it?) :)
