Man, I am so bummed. I took my new Neofax to my first day of Precepting and I left my coat and bag in the breakroom on a hanger. Well, I came home last night and was going to write out some drugs so I can become more familiar with them. Yep, you guessed it no NEOFAX. That is so depressing. I never imagined someone would get into my bag and take my book which had my name written in it. I guess lesson learned is worth about $30.00. So disappointing.
However, I am loving the NICU. It is as GREAT as I expected. I am learing so mUCH! I look forward to each and every day there.:)

Tiny I am so sorry you had to experience a theft from your bag:o Not everyone is as honest as we would like them to be. After a similar experience I now have a locker which I place everything in, including clothes as I has my shoes taken:eek:

Try putting up a little 3x5 card stating that your new Neofax was "borrowed" from the breakroom--could the borrower please return it? You never know, might work.
There is a website you can use in the meantime.
sheesh.

Would you mind giving me the address? I saw Skyscape has it for my palm but it is almost twice the amount of the book, $50!! Man, I hate to spend that.

This is why our unit decided to just buy a half dozen Neofaxes every year. This way, we don't have to get them ourselves, and since they're always on the unit, there's no reason to steal one.
I hope you find yours! That note thing sounds like a good idea - if anything, someone might feel guilty and anonymously leave it somewhere. They might be too paranoid to use it at work now.
Be careful with that palm pilot, too. We don't use those where I work at all. First of all, you get dependent on them, because you always have stuff there to look up. Like lab results - you'll memorize normal levels much quicker if you don't always have a palm to refer to. Another thing - it might also grow feet.

Our unit had that and a Harriet Lane chained to the desk!
This is going to sound lame, but....make a little label on things like that: "STEAL THIS (whatever) AND YOUR LOINS WILL GO NUMB". They do tend to stay around. Saw it on a really cheap calculator in the Trauma Unit once. Long after the thing was not functional, it was still there. (Do you suppose it just works w/surgeons?? jk, really)

I write my name in big red letters on the sides of my reference books. Sad isn't it.

Sooner or later it will surface again.................
PDAs can be great, but they need to be kept on your person at all times, never leave it anywhere.

Sorry about the neofax!
We NEVER use Harriet Lane, WAY too inaccurate and not nearly inclusive enough. (We used to, I still have my old one.)
We use ONLY LexiComp for our entire Peds and neonatal population.
