Is there already a thread for RNs waiting to hear about awards from the Nursing Education Loan Repayment Program?
When I search, I can only find previous year's threads.
I don't know if anyone can answer this but on my county, I have No, Yes, No, Yes. I am in a medically underserved population and I have been in a panic because I don't actually have a HPSA score, I am suppose to have one July 17.......hoping but since I am in a medically underserved population, is that just as good????? I am family practice and I deal with mental health issues but am not employed at a mental health institution. This waiting is driving me crazy :rotfl: Some days I think, maybe I will get this and the next day, I'm like, no way..............I just want to say thanks to everyone for helping to ease my stress........just reading the blogs seem to help. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't know if anyone knows the answer to this, but maybe one of you have asked this when calling the HRSA before. I'm in MD, btw. Wondering how they judge preferences by debt ratios. Is there an allotted number of awards per state, or is it just highest debt ratios? They don't really mention any limitation on the number of awards per state, but I would think they would have to make it fair so that everyone has a chance. Otherwise, RNs in lower paying states would get more of the awards since their ratios would be higher most often.
I dont think there is an allotted number per state because this is not a state funding. Im from Arkansas and we are definitely a lower paying state but our education doesnt tend to cost as much down here as it does in other places so it tends to even out.
Someone had asked this in last year's thread, and it turns out that it all depends on the ratios and there's no rhyme or reason when it comes to states. So I'd have to agree with the others that said it's correlated with the region you work in and the cost of your tuition. It seems fair to distribute it that way, versus allotting a certain number awards per state. There would be people in some states with a greater ratio who weren't awarded, simply due to geographic location.
But... all this talking about states and [waiting for] emails got me thinking about something else. Last year's applicants said that when they received their emails, they were assigned to one of two groups: gold or blue team. These teams seemed to be assigned by geographical area (for the employees' sake, I'm guessing, and not ours). When the emails start coming, we can get an idea of when/if we'll receive an email by others posting what state they're from and what team they're on.
I figured I'd put something out there to keep up the excitement of anticipation. I think we could all use a little more excitement...and a lot less anxiety!!

Oops! This was supposed to be in response to MercyRN, if anyone was wondering.

I don't know the actual rule on this but someone posted a link on a previous page that showed the states and numbers for the last year awards. Some states had 2 and some had 69, so I really don't know the rhyme or reason but I bet it is debt to income and I didn't see anything posted on location, however, the hpsa score has some basis on location as far as rural area..........Good luck everyone....it has to be getting closer!!!!
