Need a vet tech...

Published

I remember seeing that one of the regular posters on here is a vet tech.

My dog got ran over today. I took him to the vet, he said he broke the cartlidge on his pelvis, although I am not sure how he knows this he didn't do any xrays, and said he didn't know if he had internal injuries. Told me to bring him home and watch him tonight. He gave him steriods and abx. injection. His breathing is really concerning me. He is alert, and his tongue is pink so i guess he is oxygenating. I gave him some Ibuprofen, and woudl giv ehim a darvoet if I could find it, but I cant.

Does this sound right to you, what do I need to do?

thanks

Thanks for letting us know how your dog is doing-by the way what's his name? The poor thing, my heart goes out to him and you. I know how much of a "mission of life" it is for a dog to be able to chase rabbits-he's probably going to have to find a new mission in life. By the way, if it was Rimadyl that was prescribed for him, be sure that he eats something with it. A shepard I had (died of cancer a couple of years ago) was prescribed that for arthritis and wound up getting an ulcer from it only after being on it for 3 weeks. The vet said I neglected to feed him with the tablet-would have been nice if he told me about it when he prescribed the stuff.

I am hoping for the best for him as I am sure he is in good hands with his 'mommy' taking care of him. Please update us on how he is doing.

Ouch! I am so glad you found out the problem. You both are in my prayers!! Hopefully all goes well. Keep us updated!

:) Super

Of course he is MUCH bigger nowadays LOL, he grew up to be black and tan he is a great looking dog, and is the sweetest thing, he never even growled at anyone during all of the poking and proding he just whined and licked our hands he has never even acted like he was thinking about biting anything.....well except maybe the rabbit lol.
