Are there any websites where I could get shoes for Nursing for a male that are mid-level or high tops for ankle support? Thx and much appreciated.

you can wear any all white shoes, just no mesh materal. You can pick some up at any mall, just look for some that are either walking or running shoes. With my experience nursing shoe arent all that great. I spent some good $ on 2 different brands that werent very comfy. I wear all white nike shox, and have for about a year now, i graduate this may and still love them. Good luck, hunting.

I agree. At HFCC you just need to make sure they're white. They won't allow shox for clinicals. I can't wait to get some when I am finally a nurse.

Some clinical instructors are more leniant. One allowed all white, but a blue Nike "swoosh" was ok with her. I agree with Mimommyof3. Just your basic walking, crosstrainer without mesh is acceptable.

Why won't they allow nike shox for clinicals????? They are all white and have no mesh on them....

RN2B - I believe it's because germs and bodily fluids are hard to clean out of the "springs".

I have worn shox foe all 3 of my med surg rotations, and im now in ob with the and NEVER had a problem. One of my teachers stated those e or z coil (or whatever there called) are not allowed. But I've personal never been told i couldnt wear them, and I've seen others wear them from different clinical instructors. If your worried, ask your clinical instructor personally. But I've had 4 different instructors, with no problem.

Hope this helps.

Unless I'm missing something, the OP isn't a nursing student so wouldn't be limited to white shoes. It's hard to get recommendations online since it's such a personal issue - you really need to just go try several shoes on and see what you need for YOUR feet (eg. I over-pronate, so need different shoes than someone who is under-pronates).

OP,

When I was a student at HFCC, some of the instructors were ok with all white cross trainers or whatever, and some not. So if you have any questions run it by your clinical instructor. Best of luck to you.
