Need help w/care physiological & psychological.

Published

Help! I'm doing my first care plan involving physiological and psychological diagnosis. I've only had one clinical day and my patient was a lady who had a femoral artery bypass surgery about a month ago. Since this patient is in pain and elderly and the site currently looks infected would rest & comfort or musculoskeletal activity fall under physiological dx? And I'm having issues thinking of a psychological dx. Any examples or tips could really help me right now!

Thank you!

Yes, those are physiological issues, having to do with the body's response to illness. Comfort could be psychological but also physiological-- pain can have components of both, of course.

If you were that old lady (or if that's hard, imagine her to be your beloved grandmother or aunt whom you know well) what do you think her mental status is now? Is she glad to be in the hospital, scared, despondent, angry, confused, having a spiritual crisis? Those would fall under psychological issues.

Trust me on this one; you'll be way ahead of your classmates (until you tell them about it too :) )
