need HELP with schedule...PLEASE read

Good Morning Everyone!!!

So here's my dilemma:

I work 4 hours a every day during the 'normal' workweek from 9am-1pm, with classes Mon-Fri from 5-9pm.

It takes me about an hour (the max.) to go to and come from work, which means I usually leave around 8 in the morning, and get home a little before 2, around 1:50pm. It only takes me about 20 minutes to get to and from classes, so i leave around 4:40, and get home around 9:20pm.

Now I need to cook dinner, exercise for an hour daily, and study.....where do i find the time???? I know a lot of people have it worse than me working 40 hrs a week, but quite fankly it seems as if 24 hrs is NOT ENOUGH.

Starting this weekend i plan on making meals for the whole week and freezing them so while I'm at class my bf can just pop them in the oven and feed himself, and have dinner ready by the time i get home.

Is this going to work???

I'd like to know how does everyone on here do it...whats your schedule like....any suggestions/advice/tips for me on how to better handle my time management?

THANKS as always to those who reply!!

I'm interested in hearing how everyone is doing it also. I'm only in prereqs, but when I get in a NS I know it will be so much harder.

I, too, am wondering how I am going to juggle it all to when I start classes in April. And I will only be working 9 hours per week! (I take care of an elderly woman 3 hours a night three nights per week.) But! I have three kids, and a hubby- and a cat. LOL

First, I would recommend that BF pitch in for this to work smoothly. Easier said than done, I know- especially if your BF is anything like my DH who CANNOT cook to save his life. But the frozen meals are a good idea. And the crock pot is a girls best friend. I would also consider a soup and sandwich night.

As far as working out goes, you may need to cut back to 30 minutes a day. Don't fret, you'll be running your hiney off during clinicals. Good luck. I am so excited to start. It is fun to see peoples posts....so I have an idea of what to expect!:D

Quite frankly, you are only human. Yes, we all have those superhumans in classes who work full time, raise 19 children, volunteer, exercise like hamsters on the wheel.

But YOU have to have some quality in your life. Somethings have to fall by the wayside while you are in school. I gave up housework, Ok, you could write your name on my tv screen. Meals don't have to be 3 course gourmet delights. My kids loved sub sandwiches and soup. Husband learnt to change.

Are you tied into a membership that you need to work out an hour a day? For me swimming with the kids once in a blue moon was all I could fit in. But I walked 2kms each way from the transit centre daily.

Only you know how work will fit. Just remember that clinical hours are often unsocial, so how flexible is your employer. We were required to be at the facility 45 minutes before the shift started (0615) and didn't leave until after 1530 every day. We also did evenings (15-23 hours). So you need to factor this into your planning.

Well, I think this is the problem for everyone in nursing school. I work part time, two 12hr nights shifts a week and I have three kids and a husband. If I work the night before I have to drive a half hour to go pick up the kids from the babysitters and drop off my two oldest children off at school and then go home and sleep for a couple hours and then get up in enough time to drive for an hour to make it to my school by 1250. I am in classes until 530pm. If I don't have to work the night before, I atleast get a goodnights rest. My husband picks up the kids after he gets off work and then makes dinner and cleans up a little around the house until I get home. We have dinner around 630pm, I relax a little pick up the house a little more and then put the kids down to bed around 830pm and then I have my time to study.

So it maybe a little different with everyone but we all have to manage are time and squeeze as much time as we can in those 24hrs. Good Luck with organizing your time and your program!!
