Hi Everybody I think I need some help with the CGFNS Ex. I've just failed on July 2003. Iwas really sure that I did well, but I failed. the major problem is that as I'm not living in US i had to travel specially for the examination. And as the comunication with the CGFNS was no as fluent as I would expect, I was told that I was rostered only a few days before the examination date. So I traveled under great stress, I mean, Ihad never been to NY and I traveled by myself. The trip was really great; the only problem was that I failed. I really studied quite little, I have to say. i used The CGFNS study guide and KAPLAN.
Can anobody recomend other sources of study? Can any body has any experience on CGFNS EX. Thank you. FABY

oh, im sorry i did not know that my bad...im planning to go to florida, or maybe california. is cgfns still required to work in those states? may i ask where can i download the forms for cgfns and nclex?? thanks in advance=)
HI; YOU NEED TO GO TO http://www.cgfns.org AND CHOOSE WHICH PROCESS IS RIGTH FOR YOU, THERE ARE SEVERAL OF THEM . IN THIS SITE UYOU DOWNLOAD THE APPLICATION YOU NEED.
REGARDING THE NCLEX, YOU NEED TO APPLY IN THE STATE IN WHICH YOU WNAT TO WORK. SO, GOOGLE THE DIFFERENT NURSING BOARDS, AND THEN YOU COULD CHOOSE WHERE TO GO .
CGFNS exam is only required for less than five states, if your state does not require it, then do not consider taking it. It will be useless for you to take it and will not benefit you in any way.
THE CGFNS exam is not a licensing exam, you will be required to write the NCLEX-RN exam to actually get licensed in the US.
I passed CGFNS exam and TOEFL. I've got the certificate and i sent it to the board of nursing PA and I'm waiting for appointment for RN exam. My question is: can i work as a LPN by the time. It seems nobody there (in PA board) has any idea
I think I should mention that i don't need visa screen program

to work as LPN you need to meet the requirements of the BON and pass NCLEX PN so really meet requirements the same was as for RN so if you have not done that then I would say no you can't work as LPN
i have joined this forum today ,am vey happy that i have found some help.i have failed in my cgfns exam this march ,actually i have planned to write in nov last year but wasn't rostered ,so i have kept studying since then unfortunately by the time my exam time approached i lost complete interest,and wasnt even interested to atleast revise,any way after failing i got realyy dissappointed a nd depressed that i never thougt about my exam today somehow i felt like i want to try it once more ,and stasted to browse for some study material and luckly i found this.after reading the forum i got very encouraged.anyway can anyone help me with what to study and how to prepare,best books for studying:cry:
i too failed cgfns...........i studied saunders for cgfns but i did not pass...i want to take this exam when i also find the right references as there are not many references available for this type of exam. good luck to us raga.

Im a maltese nurses, and planning on going to new york next yr...i thought i should get the cgnfs over with before i leave....can you suggest any good books i could start studying from....are there any books that have questions similar to the exam...or any past papers? Apart from that which applicaiton do i use to apply for this exam? Btw im an american citizen.
and about the nclex, can i do that here in malta or at least in london or do i have to do it whilst in new york....thanks :)

If you are going to NY are you planning on applying to NY? If that is the case then you do not need the CGFNS exam just the CVS and that takes approx 6-8 months before getting eligibility to sit NCLEX so better to start now as long as you have completed your training and have a full set of transcritps

All you need for NY os the CVS service from CGFNS it is not a exam
