  2. Hi I did my NCLEX, Rn today at 11am, was out by 1.30. I had 75 questions and have mixed feelings of how I did. Im a foreign trained nurse and really did my best to study and pass this NCLEX!!! I got this written as a pop-up when i got home: Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Please contact your Member Board for further assistance. Another registration cannot be made at this time. Do you think this is a good pop-up or i should allow more time??? I'm killing myself here!!!:flamesonb
  3. Hi all, Wow this post was started almost a year ago, and now I'm actually in New York. Finally gonna do my NCLEX at the end of this month, along with the TNCC. I am really looking forward to start working, just hope that hospitals are hiring foreign trained nurses (I'm from Malta). Does anyone know which particular hospitals hire foreign trained nurses. I'm an American citizen and have 2 years ER experience. Thanks for your help!!!
  4. Thanks for your reply. I in fact applied as a volunteer in an ER so I could even get myself acquainted with the environment here in the states. I wish a big good luck to anyone that is in the same situation that I am, because it can be pretty frustrating at times!!! happydreamer :)
  5. I've been in the states since November 2011, I've exhausted all lists of jobs for medical assist jobs or physician assist jobs. I also applied as a medical receptionist. I have 2 years experience as a nurse back in Malta (within the ER). Unfortunately I'm still waiting on my approval by new york state to have my license issused, so in the meantime I'm studying but seriously need to find a job. Occasional babysitting jobs are not enough to keep to living in NYC!!! Does anyone know of any practices, hospitals, clinics or whatever that would hire someone with medical background???? I would appreciate any help right now!!!
  6. ok thanks...do they really take up to 8 months to clear you????
  7. Hi I am currently having my credentials verified for new york. Unfortunately i am coming across many readings that the situation with new york and having foreign trained nurses hiring isnt that good... Is there someone out there that actually works in NYC and can maybe give a picture of the situation... I'm an american citizen with 2 years experience in emergency nursing... i was schooled in Malta and plan on coming to New york next november.... thanks for your help :)
  8. hi today i finally sent out my application for my credentials to be verified. Do i sent out my application for my nursing licensure now or do i have to wait for my verfication of credentials???? thanks

  10. hi im an american citizen that is planning on going to live in new york later this year. I'll be living in Manhattan. Just would like to know if there are an other maltese or at least european nurses that could share the process needed to be done to get started. I have done the BLS and ILS course along with a certificate in emergency nursing (9 month course). I have a BSC in nursing and have been working in the ER for the past 2 years this coming august. Does anyone have any idea if its hard to get jobs as an er nurse in nyc? I would prefer to work in a trauma centre but i guess i cant be too too picky can i And i've also heard about some sort of course that needs to be done since i've studied outside the states. does anyone know about how long that would take, and is it provided by the employing hospital or do i have to do it at a university/ nurisng school? thanks
  11. hi all, Im having trouble with with licensure stuff..... ok here's an overview of my situation.... I'm an American citizen and i've been working as a nurse in the emergency department for the past year and a half in Malta...by the time ill be in new york it will be like 2 years and a half... I am currently filling out the nurse form 1 - which is the application for licensure... i just completed the child abuse coursework online.....so as soon as i send that with the required money... i was going to start the cvs process.....now if i understand correctly i have to print applications found at the end of this handbookhttp://www.cgfns.org/files/pdf/apps/CVS_Handbook.pdf and give them to my nursing school to to process my transcripts and send to the state board of new york.... am i right???? or do i have this all confused :S now whilst i wait for the cvs clearance which from what i c takes its time.....is there any other paperwork needed...or i just wait for confiramtion of the cvs and then go ahead and do my nclex??? peace :))))
