Hello all!!! I hv been searching all over & I can't seem to find any online FNP programs or any Suny schools near Buffalo, Ny with FNP programs that offer course just 1-2 days a wk in NY state. Maybe I have overlooked some schools so any info would be greatly appreciated.

Btw I have to work full time that's why I need a school with a flexible schedule

D'youville has a program that is only 1-2 days per week (thurs/fri)...have you looked into them yet?

Does the school need to be in NY? I am also in Western New York and have been looking for online NP programs, and after viewing a great deal of the comments here, I looked into Frontier Nursing in Kentucky. This is a completely online program, and, as the following link will show, is an approved program for NY State.

According to the Frontier Website, you will only have to go to Kentucky twice during the program, and you will set up your own clinicals locally here in Western New York.

I have provided both links for you to look at, and I hope you find what you are looking for!

Thanks!! I am from wny & I actually was accepted to Dyouville but to be honest after adding up the costs & the fact that I plan to take out min school loans & pay for most of my tuition out of pocket Dyouville wouldn't work out :(

I'm really confused by the comments about NY requiring school approval to get a license there. Is that just to get a license without taking a national certification exam? Their list of approved schools is pretty short, so it would seem like they would have a hard time recruiting NPs from other states if they had to have graduated from only a handful of schools. I've tried to look for more information on this but haven't had any luck.

It's just for Education/Licensure in NY state. & your right the list of stated approved schools online in New York state is very short. From what I was told it has to deal with clinicals & campus sites, there are only two approved out of state approved FNP programs Frontier and Samford.& from what I saw there aren't any New York State schools that offer FNP. Out of state NPs just have to apply for a NY state NP licensure like a out of state RN would

Thanks so much for clarifying that. I don't live in NY, but am doing an online program and would really like to move to NY at some point. So I just wanted to make sure I could get licensed there:)
